Yamaha CR2040 died while changing lamps

I was changing the lamps in my CR2040, and had turned it on to check them. The was a small "pop" near one of the bulbs like the leads at the bulb had touched the frame and shorted out. Now nothing works - no lamps, no meters, nothing. Checked both fuses and they look ok. Is there a circuit breaker or something else I need to check?

Check the two fuses on the power supply circuit. F901 and F902..Check all fuses with a multimeter."Looks" don't cut the mustard.

Ugh, sorry to hear about your situation. I had a similar mishap when I changed my 2040 light lamps. I bumped the circuit board against something and blew up some parts. It's still waiting for some more attention. Avionic knows his stuff, hopefully he can help you work it out. Great receiver!
 
I checked the fuses first thing. They check good. I have leads to two potential vintage audio repair guys here in Littleton, CO. Dr. Dan I've used before but don't know if he's still in business.
 
Pretty sure Dr Dan is still doing services.

Hope you didn't somehow take out those unubtanium output packs.
 
Yes, I was thinking that maybe the CR2014 was like Apple iOS, outdated and needing replacement. The new CR2019 should be just the thing.

Hope you get this running right again, many like these units
 
Sorry about the thread header. My eyes are going out along with my receiver.
Dr. Dan got in touch and he is still in business. Hopefully he can get it working soon. Thanks for everyone's input.
 
Good luck with the repair. It could be a resistor, forgot which one, that is in circuit with lights. It’s near the fuses.
 
Thanks for the warning. Typically I don't mind non-working lamps as long as the unit still sounds good.

I should confess that I shorted the 2040 due to forgetting to unplug it one of the times I was doing surgery... I suspect others will remind me that I risked not only letting out the magic smoke, but also my life force from my body...
 
I have a donor 2040 from which I took the power transformer. You welcome to any parts you need from the donor (no charge).

Non working lamps on a CR-2040 causes speaker pops when powering off with the power switch.
 
When I changed the fuses in my 2040, the back end smoked when I turned on the power. Turns out that I blew out the power transformer. It was a b**ch finding a donor unit. However, all is well now.
