These started off fairly well but a dimension on every piece was wrong after getting them back from the laser cutter. :no: I was able to shear two of the pieces down to what I needed them to be but the hanger brackets were a no go.

I just picked those up today and bent them up before I left work. I thought I would post a few picks of what Avionic has to look forward to. I think they turned really nice. The original is in the foreground.

I'm finishing up the other pieces and will post pictures of them tonight.

They are a basic L shape with two bent C channels between them. The bracket is screwed to the back of the speaker and hooks through two slots in the top bracket.
 
Very similar to the ones in this photo that my NS-1000M's are hanging on.

Dave I just noticed a MAJOR brain fart. I cut tubing enough for only one set of stands. :bash: I don't know what I was thinking when I was figuring what I need for the main stands. I will have to send those out to after the weekend. I have extras of everything else. Go figure.

It only took me a few hours to do but it actually took me many months to finish. :D
 
Nice work Denny. I have an original set that came with my NS-1000's but my set has seen better days. I was thinking about making a set out of ERW tubing like you have. The original construction is nothing special and your welded tubing ends are a big step up from the tubing plugs Yamaha used.

I'd love to buy a set of cut metal tubes from you and do the welding on my end if you are so inclined...

Was there a different stand intended for use with the NS-1000? The set of NS-1000M's that I used to have and my current NS-690's & 670"s are pre drilled for use with these.

My NS-1000's and NS-500M's are not.
 
Sorry to resurrect an older thread, but I was curious about stands for the NS-1000 monitors.

Is there a preferred height for these speakers? Clearly they are not meant for floor use. I'm looking at some 16" speaker stands, but unsure if there is some optimal height range that people have found, or that Yamaha suggested.

I would say 8 inches off the floor, tilted back 5 to 8 degrees is good for keeping floor reflections at a minimum and also to time align the drivers.
 
Hmmm, only 8 inches huh? Wow, that's a PITA size to find for a speaker stand! I would assume most just build their own? Unfortunately I'm tool-less at the moment.

I wonder if I could get someone to slice off my 36" Plateau metal speaker stands and solder them on at 8"? Seems like a rather excessive move to make.... :D
