Yamaha NS 1000 woofer issue

The peerless woofer looks cheezy compared to the stock NS-1000 woofer.

Can't go by looks alone but it's kind of pointless to discuss the merits of the Peerless driver in a NS-1000 especially when it's never been "tested" .....anyone care to experiment?

SLS looks like it's got a very acoustically transparent frame and nice venting. Looks quite good.

But, stick with the yamaha woofer... :)

I just got a Ns1000 and I noticed that despite bass coming out of it, the woofer hardly moves. I thought it was normal since it is a large woofer but I got worried after reading this thread. Dust and humidity a check in one of the woofers but the other looks sublime. So should I crank the volumes when I get home until I see the woofers move? How would I know otherwise they are functional? Since I can return them still

You could always pull the woofers and run a 30hz tone on them. They should move fairly easy in free air.

I put some bass, frequencies under 100hz separated by an equalizer from within a production DAW, and the bass plays...

In regular music, also plays, I can hear, but not sub bass, at least not too much.

If I touch the borders of the woofer I feel it vibrating, but I don't see it moving at all, but it vibrates all over, not sure if that's enough...
