Yamaha P2200, resistor on input?

Hi! First post here

I'm currently rebuilding a Yamaha P2200 amplifier, and I noticed that it has a resistor in line with the input. I measured it to 6.8 kOhm.

I can't see such a resistor in the schematics. In those, the input goes straight to the volume pots.

Is this resistor supposed to be there? It certainly looks like it may have been added as an afterthought. What would be its purpose? It just passively attenuates the signal before the volume pots. It's a European model BTW, if that makes any difference.

Hello, and welcome aboard! That resistor is not OEM, someone added it. I would remove it.

This amplifier does not have speaker protection in case of failure. Keep that in mind. I have a post somewhere on how to add it.

Yes. There is also a BOM posted in case you need it.

You could also add an external protection, between the amplifier and the speakers. But I like it integrated, and it's a reversible mod.
