Yamaha PX-3 Value?

I am the original owner of a Yamaha PX-3 turntable. It is near-perfect, the only blemish would be that the four rubber feet are a bit compromised and would need some attention, although they still work fine and the table plays very well. Original packing (box) along with owner's manual, original cartridge (MC-705) all the accessories (second cartridge shell, cartridge alignment tool, extra weights), in other words, all the goods are there. What would something like this be worth?

Thanks,

Andreas Novak

You need to read the rule book ..This isnt the place to sell.
Some nice stuff though.

Glum, sorry about that....you're right, should have read the rules and have edited the post. That better?

Totally agree.....just took out some other stuff too. I'd just like to know what people think this package is worth.

Thanks again.

Completed auctions are the best way to get an idea of value.
I have a PX-3 apart on my table now. I am trying to repair or find a replacement for one of the inside switches that stops the arm and of course the feet are deteriorated.

Luckyed, could you help me out? I'm not very experienced at this kind of thing and would appreciate a link to how to find completed auctions. Thank you kindly. Also, what does one do about the deteriorated feet? Are there replacements? Do folks make new ones and if so, how is that done??

Good luck with your project.

Just my guess based on what I have have seen them sell for would be anywhere from 350 on the low side to 600 on the high side. Good deals are out there so sometimes selling an item for what a person thinks its worth is not always going to get it sold. I paid 250 for my very clean PX2 and I would think a PX2 as being worth a bit more than the PX3.

Something I need to look into, I believe Technics (Panasonic) still sells the feet for the SL1200, they might be adaptable to the PX-3. I bought some micro switches from a place www.allelectronics.com that should fit the PX 2 or 3.

The PX-3 as described I would be asking $600. It's all about condition, accessories and the original box/packing material are worth a good bit to a prospective buyer.

Thanks, all. This is very pristene so should be at the upper end.

Please, many have referred to an auction.....a link to find that?

Thanks.

Sure all you need to do is go to ebay or Craigslist and search for Yamaha PX3! Notice its a buy it now auction, maybe relisted a few times, doesn't mean it will sell for the price he is asking. But they are very good tables would be hard to find a table in this price range that is a better table. They are very tough units but when they break they have a lot of electronics and getting them fixed can be a challenge.

I searched in "turntables" for "yamaha px-3" and got the same turntable in the link from above.

If you look on the left you can choose "completed listing". I don't know how far back it shows. I looked a couple weeks ago and there were 2 that sold in Feb. I don't see them there now. I think one went for about $250 and the other a little over $300. I think they both were functioning. Probably didn't have boxes. Search in the turntable section here for your turntable. I thought I found a thread asking for ideas for the feet. Apparently they are commonly missing or deteriorated and falling off.

That switch should fit, just attach the wires directly without the small circuit board. As to the sonic question, the PX-2 has a heavier platter but at one point in production it started using the PX-3 arm. I don't have the space for an A/B comparison but in a blind test I doubt you could tell which table was playing.

Regarding the price you also must consider the accessory box, headshells alone sell for over $75.
