Yamaha PX2 arm not balancing properly

Dr. Ear, thanks so much for the suggestion, that makes sense. Are you sure the caps are held in place by glue? I don't want to damage anything, from looking at them, it looks like there is a screw driven into them from the inside. I don't want to take pliers to the caps and start forcing things only to break something.

Yes, they are just held in place by glue. Did it on 3 PX-2 and 2 PX-3.

PROBLEM FIXED!!!! Thank you so much for your help guys, this forum is such a great resource. I went ahead and popped off the caps by first putting some masking tape over the cap, then gripping the cap with a pair of pliers and prying the cap off. I then slightly loosened the bearings using a flat blade screwdriver and voila, the arm moves freely as it's supposed to.

One last question, what glue do you guys recommend to secure the caps back on??

Glad that you could fix it. I use Pattex Repair glue, the one without solvents.

One nice thing about the fabricated cover (which came with the deck-don't know how it was sourced) is that if fully protected everything from dust and other such fallout.

Hey pfcs, that is a great cover and as you say, protects the entire table from the dust that can get into the controls that are "in the open" with the OEM cover. JMK (do a google search for them) made a really nice one for my Nottingham Space Deck and if you give them precise dimensions, along with pictures of what you want, they will manufacture one for you that will look exactly like what your picture portrays for anyone who is looking for one (Yammie?). And, when I had mine made, they were very reasonably priced!
