Yamaha separates matching.

OK, I just picked a C-4 preamp to go with my M-2 amplifier. Now, I'm looking for a matching cassette deck and tuner. I'm not very familiar with the Yamaha separates from this time period, so, can anyone fill me in on what components match the amp & preamp. Preferably from the same time period, color, etc.

Tuner T-1 or T-2?

I was looking at the T-1. Seems like a nice tuner. :thmbsp:

Both of those look great, I was also looking at the TC-1000, I seem to remember one in a black-face. Still looking.

I don't think Yamaha made a deck or tuner that matches well with this series pre and amp. The big square lighted switches and digital vu etc.

Therefore most anyone with a black face would be close. I'm not a cassette expert but my T-2 tuner sounds awesome!

I have both T-1 and T-2. Both nice Tuners. The T-1 you can still pickup pretty cheap. The T-2 you will pay alot more.

I used to have an M-4 that I used several Yamaha pre-amps and tuners with. I had both a T-1 and T-2 tuner, and C-65, C-4, C2a, and C2x pre-amps. The closest visual match for the Yamaha cassette decks i've owned is the TC-920B. I also have a black K-1020 that is a nicer deck, but currently has issues. When I get around to restoring my A-1, it will be matched with the T-1 and TC-920.

The TC-920B is a black-faced casette deck from 1979 that uses the same green digital meters. The color of the T-2 is a closer match to the M-2 and M-4 than the T-1 is. A T-7 tuner would would match-up well too.

Thanks for the heads-up. Really want the T-1 or T-2. The T-7 was a last choice.

See that shows you what little I know. There was an aa battery soldered into my t7. It appeared to be original but I could be mistaken. At any rate a new ni-cad aa soldered in cured the memory problem. That's a pretty neat tuner function and I wish it had more presets.
