Yamaha speakers $14,500

I wonder from where they source their Beryllium tweeters.

Looks nice, I bet it'd sound good on my Manley Stingray.

I think for that kind of money I could settle with soms cheap-ass AR19s or a pair of lousy ADS 810s, or some other crap like that. Then I'd take the $13,500 I saved to buy some beer to cry in while I got over it. :thmbsp:

If nobody here knows, the NS-10000 (yes, four zeros) was a promotional speaker made to commemorate Yamaha's 100th anniversary. Only around 1,000 were ever made, and what ones do pop up today command a hefty price tag, as evidenced here. They're supposed to sound every bit as good as the NS-1000X, but I can't tell you, as obviously, I've never heard them. This is one of those things I've always wanted to own, but I just wouldn't pay that much for:D

If I was a wealthy man, where cost was no object, I'd buy these in a second, knowing full well that I can buy better speakers, (technically speaking), for less. I'm basing that asertion on my ownership of the lowly NS-1000M's. You would never find these speakers in the home of a "real" audiophile, and by that I mean those who have marques such as Mark Levinson, Perreaux, Classe, Krell, etc., in there homes. But, the Yammies have a certain something about them. A warm, cozyness. Like an old girlfriend in a shaggy sweater on a cold night, in front of a fireplace with rum-spiked hot chocolate.

That kind of sound. ;)

So you eventually find yourself taking your clothes off while listening to them?

Edit: Initial reply deleted. I'm not sure if you folks understand my sense of humour yet. ;)

For that kind of money, they'd better be half drunk, stark naked, and pointin' towards the bedroom.....................:smoke:

Yamaha made all of the drivers in these. They were the first to use beryllium that I know of.

thanks,

I wonder what shipping from France would be, he states a weight of 250 lbs... Ouch! But i guess if you have 14.5 K to spend on speakers, it wouldn't really matter, would it?

Berryleum ( questions the spelling )
It is used in the govts space age and weapons industry
We have a local plant here but do not know all if what they do ( gov secret)It is a very hard material but I dont know if it is needed in this application
somebody know more than me ??
supposed to cause cancer and lung disease
not sure as who do you believe
would love to hear more on this

you now when the light hits my ns 500's tweeters just right they have a eery green tint like my new cr 2040 receiver lights weird isn't it ?????

Yeah, in vapour form, it's bad for you, don't inhale your tweeters (seriously: if they are not intact, stay away from them).

So the manufacturing has to be done in a clean room.

It is good in this application as light+rigid==high break-up resonance frequency.

400 000 Japanese yen = 3 399.04827 U.S. dollars

That was new at today's exchange rate. . . .

This is bugging me. . . I can't believe that 14.5K figure. . . I've been around too many of them however I'll not call that seller a thief untill I can either back it up or agree with him. . .
