Hi ,

I have a Yamaha T-2 tuner. The digital display always shows 100.2. What maybe the problem or which electronic part is faulty.......Analog display works great.

After doing the alignment you have to measure the exact IF frequency then set it with a jumper board on the digital board. Drifts over time and causes this issue. Time for an alignment.

He tunes to other frequencies.....
He doesn't have the Covid, he was vaccinated.
Seiously,
I have no skills in electronics....Since the digital display is working, I thought the electronic part that sends the information to the display is defective.
. An electronics technician told me that it was complicated to repair and possibly that there is probably no more part to repair it. (Yamaha T-2 year Mfg 1978) Since it runs anyway, keep it as it is.

That electronics technician is wrong. Your tuner needs an alignment. For someone inexperienced, an alignment is complicated.

For more precision I add this: The tuner works fine. I almost always listen to 95.3 FM. I have had it for 1 year. Since I own it, I have noted different readings on the digital display when I turn it on. Examples: 100.1, 12.0, 23.0, 11.4, 11.9, 13.7, 12.31, 10.7, 100.7, 15.8, 11.2 ... etc

Ok thought you were talking about it tuning to even numbers verses odd. Would could just be bad solder joints or reseating ribbon cables. Possibly a power supply issue.

What you say makes sense, maybe bad solder joints. I do not believe that there are ribbon cables according to the manual, in any case I do not see any. Note that I am not a technician. At the very least, I'll open it up and check the connectors or solder. Here is the link of the service manual T-2: http://sportsbil.com/yamaha/t-2-sm.pdf

There are three cables going to the digital board and a coax. Multi wire connectors, not true ribbons.

I understand. I see where the three pin connectors are connected. I disconnected one of the connectors and the digital display went out. I disconnected all the pin connectors and lubricated with dielectric grease with no result. For the rest, my knowledge does not allow me to go further. I will probably need to contact a technician. Thank you to you and the others for the information.

Your (analog) tuner has a built-in digital frequency counter that is constructed from74LSxx TTL chips (common 1970's digital technology) with the addition of a few obscure Hitachi higher-speed parts. It may be repairable but a typical tuner repairman won't have the necessary digital troubleshooting skills. It sounds like the digital counter is not functioning, rather than being just a problem with connections to the display. As a low-level check, you want to ensure that you have clean 5 volt power making it to the digital board.
