Just wanted to intro myself.
I am restoring my old system from the late 70's.
Got back into it because the quality of the new throw away systems just isn't there.
And I miss the crisp clear sounds of my youth.

Same here.
I had to join the Army and go to Europe to get a real stereo.
But I do remember laying in front of the portable record player listening to Downtown by Petula Clark for hours.
Couldn't touch the Console unit of the parents.
What a beast that was.
20 tons of wood and tubes.
