I hate to hear that but, I love hearin' how you're getting some great scores:thmbsp: BTW, Crystal Ball was the first LP I was given, small world...eh? My system's lucky charm is a big,100% Austrian crystal ball I got at the Gem & Mineral Show here several yrs ago, every piece is still chuggin' along!

I see about 18 of those that I've heard of and/or own already! :D Mainly the classic rock stuff. I hardly ever buy any classical it seems but most of them are in crappy shape when I look at them OR they are one of those LP's that have 40+ tracks on them and sounded bad even when they originally came out. I pass on those typically. I do buy some new classical LP's, though.

Most of those classical records have nary a mark....look mint, and usually play that way, too.......:music:
 
Well, you're on a roll. I rarely listen to classical for the same reasons avguy stated. And Styx, to me, is one of the least talented groups I've ever had the displeasure to see live. Just a bunch of posers acting like musicians. But that's just me.

I'd go for quality over quantity. Rein yourself in, Dave, don't blow your $$$ on mediocrity just because it's cheap.

Well, all of these records are stuff that I really enjoy, and I left a lot there that I would not enjoy, and then 100 or so that I WOULD enjoy.

I always inspect each and every record before I buy it, and unless it's something that is pretty rare, it's gotta be almost perfect.

Live at Budokan is ALWAYS cool... Dammit.

Oh yea... If you get into a pile of great-condition but otherwise-dime-a-dozen stuff like late Journey, etc., grab it all up if it is cheap. Good condition is good condition. Keep the best of the best for yourself and trade the rest in to a good used record shop. A couple of those, you can get something you really want. I turn in duplicates from time to time. The record guy up the road is very fair and probably has a duplicate if something I want. It's like baseball cards.

Any time you save mint condition vinyl from a horrendous death you have done good.

Olive and 141/Woodsmill. From that intersection you go towards Stak and Shake. Almost across from Incarnate word (little past there) there's a small goodwill. That's where all my best stuff comes from.
 
Much of the classical I find is in IMMACULATE condition. I think it speaks to the original owner and the person(s) who somehow came into possession of it and decided to drop it off at Goodwill.

I already had the Van Cliburn, but this looked SO MINT that I could not leave it there, asn mine is just OK...not perfect....:music:

I'll play it later.

I had never heard of the Itzak perlman pieces, but I know Itzak Perlman and anything I see, I buy, as I always enjoy it. The shrink wrap is still on the cover. Unsealed, but there.

I love that. I bet 9 out of every 10 pieces of classical vinyl will I see at the thrift store is mint. Not sure why, i just seem to have the best luck with that genre

Thanks to the original owners, i guess....the people that had the $$$ to buy RCA Red Seals also kept them nice, I have found.
