So I was looking over FB marketplace and I came across a hilarious ad titled: "world's most RETARDED speakers, double tweeter, 4 X mids and 1 Driver." Naturally I had to know more... the pic provided in the ad is terrible, but if anyone could identify them I would be thrilled to know who manufactured these "retarded" speakers!:rflmao:

As you can tell by the pic in my profile I am a fan of odd speakers!

Polks of some kind? They don't look like any specific model I'm familiar with, but that's the first thing to come to mind

Me too, all those mids look like Polks, but not something I'm familiar with either. Maybe a home brew speaker?
 
They do look like Polks and the guy wants $80 CDN for them, so call it $50. Maybe worth convincing my wife that an 8th pair of speakers is a great idea!
 
They don't look like Polks to me. Color aside, the midrange spacing is odd and the tweeters look inconsistent. I'd say homemade. Might be worth a look if you're nearby. I wouldn't drive too far for them, though.

Can't you ask the seller for better pics? Or try accessing Facebook on a computer instead of a phone to at least get larger versions.

One other thought occurred to me. Don't vintage Polks use exclusively 2-way designs? I see that now they have some 3-way models, but back when these would have been made, their design was pretty much 2-way plus passive radiator.
 
Heck, if they aren't too far away, like really close, it might be fun to go look at them and make a low ball offer in person. Who knows...the drivers might be worth something. Then again, they might not.

Again...NOT Polks of ANY kind.

I apologize for the poor pic and the fact that I used my phone was because I knew it would be a while before i would be able to get to a computer and I didn't want to miss an opportunity if they were in fact something of value. I had next to no hope that they weren't anything other than a home project with a hideous paint job. I will post a better pic shortly, sorry again. I honestly felt that the ad was too ridiculous not to share with everyone!

I was thinking the same thing, he lives 30 minutes away, I may have to make a trip in that direction Thursday, if he hasn't thrown them out I may grab a small receiver and test them out for fun... but there is a 3% chance of me doing that.

The ad looks like it was was written by a drunk15 year old...I personally wouldn't go near the place.

Oh, I wouldn't worry - he's probably too sloshed to rob OP anyway. :dunno:
