In college some decades ago, I lived for a year in a noisy co-op house and a friend of mine there had borrowed and screwed up this other co-op member's boom box. That boom box seemed to be one of the the owner woman's most prized possessions and she was really upset up that the cassette player on it was all jammed up and could no longer play a tape (because my friend, in some kind of drunken stupor had put in a cassette downside down, slammed the door shut and broke something). I didn't want to see these two folks as enemies, particularly since it was still so early in the school year and as a peacemaking effort, I decided to try and fix the thing. The co-op house had a toolbox and I grabbed that, made a place on one of the dining tables and went to work... I fully dissembled the thing, aligned some parts that got all cockeyed put it all back together and had the thing working as it should. I was a hero for the day... but just a day unfortunately...
