Your favorite "low-wattage" Amplifier or Receiver

Can you hear a difference between the old caps a new caps? At what level do you hear difference? Is the sound less tiring?
Huge difference. It’s especially evident in the mids, with more clarity, detail and soundstaging but overall, the sound is tighter and better put together.

My new favorite has to be my Maganvox DG-1 resto-mod. Not gonna lie: I was a little dubious how 3.2 watts would perform but I had been eyeing up the thread for a while. When the chance to pick up a console on the cheap came along, I went for it. Loaded it up with a new JJ ECC83 and NOS Sylvania black plates. I've been completely blown away by this little sucker. My wife loves it as well.

Very nice. At some point try some old stock 12AX7's.
The GE 6EU7 I used in mine does sound better than the JJ ECC83 I tried with a adaptor socket I have. So did the old stock Webcore branded 12AX7 I have. I use JJ 12AU7's and 12AX7's a lot, they sound decent and don't cost much, but some of the old stock tubes do sound better. Maybe a GE, Sylvania, or RCA.

For sure. After plunking down for the Black plates (matched, of course.. ) and a new Mullard rectifier I went with a cheaper option as a stop-gap - for now. This one will be NOS tubes all the way.

Nice!!! what speakers are you using with it?

My Berning EA-230 isn't much to look at, but it certainly makes nice sound with my Hegeman speakers via Hegeman pre-amp.

Aleph Mini Clone with cap upgrades.

Somewhere between 10 and 15 watts, haven't checked the rail voltage to be sure.

Thank you! I wish I could take credit for it, but it was made by another Magnavox 9300 owner who happens to be a master woodworker.

Same here only it was a friend of a friend who I gifted a receiver, he actually made several wood bases for me.
