No, the stereo won’t break the crystal...Oh CRAP!
With winter solstice happening this week (or really, any time during the year - in the dark of night) I like to fire up my vintage/weird lighting collection while I’m listening to music. Here’s one (of the many) funky classics I have collected over the years.

Post a picture of your weirdest/vintage lights/lamps! Nothing is better than great music, in the dark, with your favorite lamp/light, and libation of choice!

strobe lights were the norm during my youth and at parties.
the last one I had(probably 20-years ago) was a lava lamp I tried to get started and by placing it on the stove. i was sitting behind a wall from the stove when it blew up...spreading wax and chunks of glass literally all over the kitchen. had to buy a new stove(was worn anyway) and took me years to find and clean the red wax from the cabinets.

I've got the light and music covered in the same device........... :D

This is my 1941 "Mitchell Lumitone" lamp / radio. It's a 5 tube AM radio (standard "AA5" configuration using Octals) that I restored with all new capacitors & resistors and it sounds pretty good considering it's relatively small speaker. There is a station near me that plays music from the 50s through the 80s, which of course lately has been playing Christmas songs.

My Lava light is jealous, cool as it is, it don't make music like the Lumitone does..... ;)

Aladdins are cool. I have one for power outage lighting. Wouldn't mind a couple more. I need a spare mantle though. I had one but it was located somewhere within the dog's reach and she ate it.

for anyone not familiar with these, its an oil fired mantle lantern. Round wick, but the only thing the flame does is heat the mantle to make it glow, the fire doesn't actually produce much light on it's own. Absolutely silent too, unlike my propane lanterns.

I don't miss that "wood smoke" @ So Cal either. It was hell @ (brief) "winters" in Santa Barbara, as whatever noxious fumes emitted caused no end of respiratory discomfort. Whatever type/variety of wood they burn in France does not provoke a similar reaction.
