Hope to find his first LP, so I can get a nice rip of the original version of 'Shimmy Shimmy', the two Canetoad CD's only have the overdubbed version 'Shimmy Shimmy '65' even though the second disc claims to have the original.
 
Picked up 10 lps yesterday from the local Habitat for Humanity thrift store. 5 are Mannheim which I did not know are on the American Grammophone label. I'm looking for good sound from those. The others are all digital with a lucky find of a M&K Direct to Disk. All look clean and were 25 cents each.

This one was given to me by a friend a few weeks ago, unopened. It had been in a "damp" environment and there was mold and discoloration on the outside. I peeled back the plastic and the discoloration was actually on the jacket itself. I cleaned it off, with parts of the paper surface disintegrating as I rubbed it - so I stopped.

I took out the record this week and it also had a fair amount of mold on it. That cleaned up very easily and it sounds brand new. I love that it's live. I love live Jazz.

I purchased an autographed, in Japanese, Sadao Watanabe, Japanese pressed, Parker's Mood LP last month. He's like Japan's John Coltrane. He's also an accomplished artist-painter.

For me personally ... a very Cool item. :) An extremely rare item to find.

Sadao and I had a few beers together in the 'Today' bar which was a very small neighborhood back street Rock & Roll bar in Sasebo, Japan, in '85. It' was an all Japanese bar but anyone could come - if you knew it was there and you could find it. I was just having some beers and he sat down beside me in the only empty chair at the bar. He said he always wanted to go to visit the Today bar. I didn't even know who he was until later on, one of my Japanese friends said to me: "Do you know who that is!!" I said: "I have no idea." And he pointed to a big poster on the wall behind the bar in a frame and said "That's Sadao Watanabe!" He later told me he was playing at a jazz concert the next day in Sasebo Park... but I had to work. He spoke perfect English and was really a nice guy, very friendly - like a normal person.

All my Japanese friends had group pictures taken with him. Pretty darn cool.

Anyway... glad I 'finally' found an autographed LP. :thumbsup: Been looking for one for many decades.
