Hello everyone,
A year ago, I purchased this Zenith stereo system primarily for the radio functionality, but I was also intrigued by the record player. Although I've received vinyl records as gifts in the past, I've never actually owned a record player before and have had very little personal interaction with them. I bought the stereo knowing that the record player was broken, and was hoping to eventually repair it myself.
I have some experience with electrical tinkering, so I feel confident in my skills to tackle this project. However, due to my limited experience with record players overall, I thought it would be best to reach out to the community for some expert opinions and guidance.
Currently, my thought is to replace the entire arm as the stylus and headshell also seem to be in bad shape. I have included photos and videos below for reference.
Additionally, I have come across an exact system online that is claimed to be a 1960s Y928 Model, but I have not been able to find verifiable sources to confirm this information. If any of you have any knowledge or resources that can help me identify the model and its components accurately, I would be extremely grateful.
I'm in no rush to complete this but would like to start taking the steps to get it working again. Thank you in advance for your assistance and support in this restoration project. Your expertise and guidance would be immensely helpful. Please take a look at the photos and videos, and if you have any insights, recommendations, or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
Thank you once again for your help!
Best regards,
