Brett A's Playlist.

I have to say I am jealous of the amount of music you listen to. I get a bit on my daily commute, and another bit when I get home from work. Maybe 6 or 7 albums a week. Good news is I have enough stuff piled up to hear new music for at least 2 years:yes::thmbsp:
Nice thread Brett.:thmbsp:

Thanks, Todd! But if you'll notice, I don't post every day and some of the busier posts are me playing catch-up. I think I listen to 2 titles a day on average.

Fleetwood Nicks - Rumors (lp) Played on the Dual 1215 (I think) I pulled out of the closet, mounted with a Red Ed Elliptical and plugged it into an ART DJII. Unfortunately, it sounds pretty wonky. I can't remember if I did anything to clean the drive system yet.

This morning, for some reason, I woke up with "Every Day I Write the Book" in my head. So, of course I put on Elvis Costello - Punch the Clock.

attachment.php

Then as I was putting my roof rack back on and continuing to work, I went twice through Heather Maloney - Time and Pocket Change.

I took this shot of the CD with the Retro Camera app on my Droid phone.

Here she is with her band in all her loveliness:

Followed by Frank Zappa - Apostrophe. This is one of my earliest CD purchases. Some time back in the 80's when Ryko was kind (or dumb) enough to put both Over Nite Sensation and Apostrophe on the same disc.

The Au Pairs - Sense and Sensuality (cd) Any self-respecting anarchist rock-n-roller needs to have this album. It;s a real overlooked gem in the world of rock n'roll.

attachment.php

This morning. it was Frank Zappa - Over nite Sensation (The other half of the same disc I listened to yesterday)

One thing I see when looking back on what I've played, I don't know when i got to be a guy who likes "Best of" collections so much. I used to be too much of an asshat to be seen with them in my collection. Honestly though, once i bought the Best of Whitesnake, I knew I had gone too far. I should have noticed when the Elton John collection appeared that I was in trouble.

OK. five days of cathing up to do.

To the best of my memory, they are presented in order.
One marning a while back with coffee:James Brown - 70's Funk Classics(cd) I've kinda been on a funk kick a little bit.
attachment.php

It takes a few sessions to get through an album some times. After the hardest working man in show business, I put on Side 2 of Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde (lp)
attachment.php

Then, for the commute, it was James Brown again. This time it was Funk Power (cd) which is the first recordings of his new band in 1970 with Bootsy Collins and his brother Phelps along with Donald Byrd. You can really hear Bootsy's bubbling along here. Pretty exciting considering where he was going from there and the mark he made on music by sharing what he learned in this band with George Clinton/Parliament.
attachment.php

When I got home from work, I broke out the fresh copy of Miles Davis - Kind of Blue (the Music on Vinyl reissue LP) Maybe the 3rd time I've played it since new.

attachment.php

When I got up the nest morning, I needed completion on the Kind of Blue listening session. I didn't want to fuss with the LP, so I put the CD in the tray.
attachment.php

Then the soundtrack to my commute was Wire - The Peel Sessions (cd)
attachment.php

Then John Lee Hooker - The Legendary Modern Recordings (cd)

Laura Marling - A Creature I Don't Know (lp) The more I listen to this album, the more I don't know why I thought I'd like it.

attachment.php

Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald - Porgy and Bess (cd) --and a very good sounding CD too!
attachment.php

Just when I pulled out the Kind of Blues, I found a Columbia Six Eye mono copy for $3. It's kind of beat up, but not as bad as I thought. It's good enough to put under the good needle!

I've finally been making my barn livable after living here for 5 or 7 years. The first LP I played on the barn system was The Band - self-titled.

attachment.php

Followed by Mearle Haggard - The Fightin' Side of Me. (lp) which I enjoyed immensely.

attachment.php

The following day (yesterday I believe) I listened to Mose Allison-Autumn Song (cd). (it is autumn in New England after all). I took this picture of the CD sleeve against the side of a roll-off dumpster.

attachment.php

Today, it was FreeFormDonaldByrd (lp)

attachment.php

Then Tammy Wynette's Greatest Hits (lp)

attachment.php

Followed by Hank Snow - Songs of Tragedy (lp)
attachment.php

Followed by Fleetwood Mac - Greatest Hits (cd) I love this collection more every time I play it. I don't know if I told you, but I was waaayy too uptight to like radio music in the 70's and 80's. I'm just opening up to some of it now in my mid-40's
attachment.php

Followed by Scott Walker - Boy Child best of 1967 to 1970 (cd)
attachment.php

That was my day. I'm going to bed now.

Scott Walker - Tilt (cd) I'm excited about his new album rumored to come out this fall!

"Eyes on the road Rhonda"

Thanks, Lee. It's been mostly fun and at times a chore. I've thought about letting it go, but I really want to do it for one year at least so we can see the seasons change out my windshield.

I did an internet search for the "eyes on the road Rhonda" thing, seems like a bit of pop culture I'm unaware of. Still not sure what it is; some insurance company ad? :scratch2:
