Here are the pics of the units I picked up for $5 a piece at GW. I cleaned them up for the camera. Let me know what you think.

I tell you, that CT-F1000 just looks like a mini recording studio, All the knobs and dials and switches.....

5$ each :sigh: you lucky dog, I can't believe. Only the rack handles on the tape deck are worth more:tresbon: I think I live in the wrong country:tears:

I just gone done putting new belts and Idler tire on my CT - F1000 ,nice deck !! you can get the kit with directions on ebay $20

I ordered a belt kit as soon as got the unit. This is my second CT-F1000 and I sure like them. I will probably do the belt replacements during my Christmas break from teaching.

Anyone who has the guts to teach these days deserves a 5.00 receiver.

Thanks BeerMaster. I have been teaching for 28 years now and hope to go for 35 and then hang up the chalk (actually, we use dry erase markers now)and put in more time for my passions. I could retire next year and certainly have considered it but it's still too soon but I think about it almost everyday. Especially on Monday's.

Those are some fine looking pieces--you can make $$$$$ from those rack handles on the bay. Together, they are worth as much or more as each of the other pieces(sx5580,ct1000)

Yeah, over the last couple of years I have been surprised as to how much these puppies can fetch on eBay. Crazy! The handles came with the unit and are in very good condition as is the CT-F1000.

I agree with you Agger!!! I need to get outta England and go hunting in the States - 5 dollars each!!!! Man, what a joke - you could only just about buy a cup of tea and a sarny for that in this rip-off country (England) here. A beautiful deck like that CT-F for 5 dollars - fair play to that dude, he got a reaol bargain there.   :thmbsp: Mind you, I have to admit that this morning I missed a Pioneer P-D70 for £21.00 this morning because the person would not post :thumbsdn: - or I would definately have bought that!!

Yes, I totally agree with that statement - especially when you see (via TV programs etc and in reality) the **** teachers have to put up with from pupils, red tape and admin. I dont think they ever have a break, even after work - they take the work home with them - marking, prep work, admin, reports, research and the stress!! Is it really a worthwhile profession??? :thumbsdn:

My mom was a teacher for 40 yrs!!

Well bless your mom's heart. I admire her for her years of service when so many teachers are leaving the profession for more lucrative jobs ( I guess). I have stuck with it but it was what I wanted to do since my senior year in high schhool. I guess smelling all the darkroom chemicals over the years may have affected my judgement. Much of what you said is true and yet we continue to be blamed with what is wrong with America's youth. Oh, well. Can't please all of the people all of the time. It's the profession I chose and its been fun for the most part. It's better than cleaning fish all day, at least.

If those babies were sitting and priced like that by a GW near me... You would have heard me shouting "EUREKA" all the way there in AZ !!!

Awesome score there pioneervato, both pieces appear to be in awesome shape... :thmbsp:

Man it was just plain luck or the stereo gods were smiling down on me that Saturday. I doubt I will find that kind of deal again. I don't know, the timing, everything, all the events that took place that day seemed unreal at the moment. The receiver was the big surprise 'cuz I had never seen a Pioneer like this before. Did not even know silver on black existed until now. But I guess that's what makes collecting these classics so exciting 'cuz you never know what a thrift store or yard sale is going to have waiting for you.

WOW ..........Great score nice one

Congratulations on a nice haul! I now know exactly what pioneer cassette players I want after seeing yours. I only wish people had yard sales over here in Japan. The real problem is, almost no one has yards here.

By the way, what's GW? Whatever it is, I'll be looking for every one that I can find on my next visit to the States.

Cheers,
expatguy

I search three different GW stores arond here, lucky to get an LP that will play. The people round here must not drop items like yours in my area. I am drooling.

AWESOME SCORE!

Those Euro black receivers are SWEET!

As much as I love my Pioneer gear, my Sansui rig holds a special place in my heart because of the color (sorry Pioneer folks :) )

Great finds!
