12b4, 6ca4 build questions....

Oh and i had the clip from the positive clamped on to the top of the 2540, on the metal part where the screw goes thru... is that ok or no...

Its about 1.310 not bad it bumped it up! Hey is the 3545 supposed to heat up like that?

how hot does it get?? I wouldn't think it should get warm at all. Better triplecheck the wiring.

yea, that is electrically connected to the drain. OK for now, but should be connected normally to the pin in the final unit.

It gets hot, too hot to touch, could be backward, think that, also the reason i was testing up on top of the 2540 is the pin i have nothing connected to isnt working, maybe i need to flip that around??

I know. hehe :D im not gonna apply any voltage to it till i show you some pics...
But i do want to thank you, for helping, the last 40 posts were a learning experiance, but hey it works now till i show ya the pics! im gonna go out and try to find someone who can cut the Aluminum plate for me tommorow, get a digi camera to show ya picks, and work on mounting the power supply.. but thanks agian brick! :thmbsp: Im happy i got one channel done!

Well i see if you can answer this real quik, you know how they both have flat sides... should both flat sides be facing the same way.... can you answer that without a camera? Im wipping up a diagram to show ya... if it works! give me a sec...

Hope you can read it and understand it... ask questions if need be!

have to pardon the typos, was hurrying...the 2540 is also flat side facing you..

If the DN2540 is oriented so as you can read the typing on it (which i think is how you picture it), then the following corrections are in order. This may fix your hot DN3545.
(edit: posted the right pic this time)

I was wondering what wire i should use for what, i got the solid copper stuff that jay supplied, and a foot of black thin twisted stuff which im thinking should go for light.... and whole bunch of purple. should i do the 12b4's with the copper wire and heat shrink over it? Basically i think what im asking is what guage should i use and where?

I'm back! Glad to see you got your CCSs working.

Use the solid copper w/heatshrink for short runs (like less than 1.5 inches i.e. if you need to connect two pins on a tube socket together, like pins 4 & 5 on the 12B4s), and the "super purple power wire":D for longer stuff, like heaters. When running heaters, wrap a tightly-knit twisted-pair out of the purple stuff. You don't really have enough heater current to worry about overloading that wire.
