$1300 for these?

IIRC, they were not well reviewed; I'm sure you can find reviews, so you can know more than "diddly". I know, I didn't like homework either.

I got a pair, at a pawn, for far far less. They look great. I tried them, and took them back.

Yamaha B-6.

Interesting Carver connection. X-Module explains owner reports of excessive heat in the B-6. Early version of X-Power module made an appearance in R-1000 and R-2000 receivers. The module switches voltage rails. Unfortunately, the module runs very hot. $1300 is excessive given poor cosmetic condition. Interestingly, many B-6 for sale on you know where but there are no completed sales. True value is probably in $400-600 range but expect more cost for a highly recommended full restoration.

Yes, you managed to post something. How does it help the OP? I'm sure he knows they have watts and sound already. The object of his thread and our posts is to provide details relevant to value.
I told him they were not well reviewed. I also told him I had a pair, but found them disappointing and took them back. I did so to help him reach a decision. Only one man's opinion (and some reviewers) but it was based experience, on listening, not on wattage or conjecture.

Have you heard them? Know their sound? Or is 200 watts all that matters? But "you managed to post something."

This looks like a great place to drop this....All too common on these forums.

There's one video on u - tube. Doesn't sound half bad. Person making the vid is moving all around the place, but sounds as good as anything else.

I never did understand how recording a stereo system with a tiny condenser mic on a cell phone (not to mention the playback equipment) can tell you anything at all about the sound of the system, other than "it makes sound". It seems like an exercise fraught with fatal imperfections.

Videos on youtube are a terrible way to evaluate sound quality.

Oh FFS you three. OP wanted to know about the amp and I found a video. Simple as that. We all know that youtube is a not a good way of judging audio quality but at least it can give you an idea. Jeesh.

As I recall, the reviews were thumbs down. The Yamaha Pyramids were not on the market for long but I do not know whether that was due to poor quality/sales or to Bob Carver making noise about unauthorized use of his amp design (again IIRC).

Reviews can't really be trusted on a polarizing figure like Carver either. Lots of people motivated to give him bad press it seems. I also don't care about the specs. To the OP: if he wants that kind of coin he should be able to demo them for you. Let your ears decide if they are worth it or not. It's pretty simple really.

I haven't heard much Carver gear, so won't offer an opinion — but there's a reason I haven't heard much: I agreed with the bad reviews.

I read something about the original manufacturer raising hell with Yamaha because they didn't have the rights..it was in the vintage audio knob blog if u have ever heard of it lol
