1937 MOVIE THEATER JENSEN LANSING 18’’ W HORN SECTION

This was just removed from a theater built in the mid 1930’s any information appreciated, original vg plus condition.
Any 9n-it much appreciated I am not a speaker collector and picked this up at theater with several 1930’s art deco seats
charles in Maine. Thanks in advance for helping me determine more about this piece

You can't mention that here, selling isn't allowed except by paid subscribers in specific subs. You can't even say you're considering selling, unless it's in the context of a transaction that's already in progress. Should probably edit your post before a moderator does, they are pretty strict about this.

If you want to ask about potential value (again, without saying you're planning on selling), ask a mod to move this to Dollars & Sense.
 
Cool find, those old theatre speakers tend to go for silly money on top of that it's in a way-cool cabinet.

I'd love to hear more about the old theatre, was it abandoned, still running or just someones storage locker?

OP joined today and first post was basically about wanting to sell

It seems that's the only reason he joined hopefully not but no need to give him any expectations let him do his own research on value or he can move this thread to D&S
 
It's damn cool, in my opinion, even if the op never posts again.

to move it to D&C would deprive many of us of this glimpse into the past.

Tangentially, I was part of renovating the capital theater in Logan Ut in the eighties,(now renamed the eccles theater) and among the many things we pulled out of the ghost door (It was turned into storage when it bcame a first run, then second run, then dollar theater by the 80s) was an original fantasia promotional poster, a second run wizard of oz poster, and a whole slew of old cameras. it was cool!

Probably originally leased to the theater by Western Electric.

Those vertical bars on the grill give a smidge of WE styling hint(think 753 monitor) and indeed the patent plate corresponds with a 1939 Bell Labs patent registration.

I found this mention of the patent by Steve Schell in 2007 at LHF:

This patent issued to Samuel A. Waite describes a two way speaker with bass reflex low frequency section and (in one embodiment) a multicellular horn high frequency section. Mr. Waite's patent was applied for in October 1937, shortly after the introduction of the Lansing Iconic. We may never know whether Mr. Waite had any relation to Lansing Mfg. Co., or if he simply applied for a patent on the concept of the Iconic and later successfully negotiated compensation from Altec Lansing.

Let us all give the poster a chance to respond . He's new here and like someone said he did edit his post so it shows he is trying to follow the rules.
It might mot be in the realm of of what he collects or buys.
How about giving him some encouragement and tell him thats a great find and mabe get him inttested in audio if he is not already.
