I "prefer" the Doors cuz they sound-tracked the "dark" side of the Sixties better than anybody else.

That's funny, cause Credence held the #2 spot right behind the Beatles all the way through the late sixties...and in front of the others ! But,The Doors "Riders On The Storm" always finished closer to the top ten every time a radio station or magazine edited the best rock songs. Back when Rolling Stones mag was the real thing and Dick Clark had his annual new year's radio special.

For me, The Who is the top rock 'n roll band of all time. Never did like the Stones or the Beatles all that much. But The Doors are a really close second as are Cream.

The Beatles hands down. Both the quality and volume of their work plus the innovation that came as they matured as composers and studio musicians put them at the top easily. I was there and while the other bands were great, the Beatles were phenomenal. Pied Pipers for sure.

Depends on the day. Its hot & sunny today - I'd like to hear Heros & Villians by the Beach Boys.

When it hinges on the knob labeled "volume"... then the Doors are my choice.
When there's a bug in my ear, and I want to hear some good rhythm... then my home is infested with the Beatles.
But, right about 5:15, I do enjoy releasing Tommy from his disc, to cure his Quadrophenia and to cut my hair.
I also have an Endless Pet peeve... anyone who does not have a healthy respect for the Beach Boys Sounds in the Summer.

Of those listed, I feel that the Who was one of the most influential (in the 1960s) for what came later in the Rock genre..

Without The Beatles, I don't think any of these other bands would have been strong enough to basically create, electrify, and sustain the environment that permitted these other bands to thrive. Just my opinion. And this is not to knock any of the other bands musically.
