1963 Fischer Ambassador tube system

I have a 1963 Fisher Ambassador tuner/turntable/tube amp system. It's in a decent console which is in fair condition.

What would this be worth on the open market?

Sad but true, but I'm afraid that Sheltie Dave is pretty close to its value in a local sale. I paid $35 (from the original owner) for my '63 Fisher Custom Electra and it's in museum quality condition. Unless you are willing to have it crated, find a spot on the back of a moving van or haul it down to the Greyhound bus terminal you're pretty well stuck with local sales. I've gotten 5 of my 7 consoles for free. I paid less than $70 for the best 2 of them that includes the Fisher and a minty '61 Motorola Golden Voice 3-channel in mahogany, also from the original owner.

Can you post more pics including the whole unit and TT so we can get a feel for the general condition? I really hate to see these parted out, especially older Fishers. There are only so many of these old girls still left in operational condition. Do you have an antiques dealer in your area that accepts pieces on consignment?

WOW, look at the size of those output xformers! Heck, I'll give you a bill for the amp. This will for sure worth a couple hundred maybe parted out. Clean the amp and tuner up real good and sell as vintage - unrestored.

So what you're saying is I should ditch the console (which is taking up a nice chunk of space in the garage) and clean the rest.

Will start work on that shortly.

Thanks!

What I'm saying is that's what I'd do. It's what I do to old consoles. The TT is usually not worth using - same with the speakers. I would turn the amp into a stand alone with a separate preamp. Maybe salvage the tuner. Get some high efficiency speakers (Klipsch, Altec, ec) and be blown away.

Man I hate to see those gutted. As you can see someone would be willing to pay decent money for that.Whole I would hope.I am still waiting for one to surface locally.Haven't seen a decent one in five years.
