2014 Toyota Corolla ......... Ugly

Yeah, the Vibe and Matrix are based on the Corolla platform. One of NUMMI's last joint ventures. The 2001 Corolla looked good on the outside, but had to have had one of Toyota's cheapest interiors ever made. I hated the 98-02 gen because of that. The 01-02 "S" models with the black interior and sport cloth were marginally better. The 03-08 was much, much nicer, and even nicer still than the 09-13 Corolla, which also had a cheap interior, IMO.

Nothing can touch the classic RWD corollas though. Even the AE92, 2-door corollas from 88-92 were pretty cool and fun to drive, although front wheel drive.

I'd love an AE86. Good luck finding one though that's stock and hasn't had the piss kicked out of it.

I have two friends with identical cars. Both 1985 Celica GT-S hatchbacks, 5-speed. One has been rebuilt as a resto-mod, and was already in near mint shape with 77k miles on it. It is now practically brand new. My other friend's has over 300k miles on it and he is now rebuilding the transmission for the first time. No engine issues otherwise. Another friend just got rid of his 1992 Corolla sedan after 20 years of ownership and just over 300k miles as well. Toyota DOES NOT make them like they used to. At least like they did before roughly 2002, and definitely before 2007. That's for sure. They're still very reliable, maybe not quite as bulletproof these days. However, their tenacious focus on overall quality (especially interior quality) and attention to detail was lost sometime after the 90's. Not so for Lexus though. They are still top of their class in this respect.
