Cool, Welcome to AudioKarma Exclusively Sansui! Your 4000 was built on production line 01 in July of 1971. It was the 662nd unit off that line that month. Line 01 was also building TU-999s, 800s and 2000As that month.

The AU-7500 was built on line 83 in July of 1973. It was the 316th unit off that line that month. Line 83 was also building AU-555As and QA-7000s that month.

Thanks for posting!

Done. Thx Pete. Purchased at the PX in Italy. I believe it was in 1973. Any more info I find I will share. Here is a pic attached of the Model and Serial. Will send a pic of the receiver after I put it back together . I am waiting on a new relay.
The photo is perfect. Just what I needed to see. It is a general export model. It's also interesting to note, it has a "T-tag" indicating it was built by a contractor. A common practice at that time.

Hi @SKAGIT RIVER, the 990DBs are beautiful receivers. It was build on line 81 in March of 1977. It was the 254th unit off that line that month. Line 81 was dedicated to 990DBs and 9090DBs that month. Thanks for posting and including the note on it's source.

Hello LBPete. I am guessing the T-tag is the place where the M# & S# is. What is the difference between that and Sansui manufactured. Have you heard of or know any differance in the quality of the build? Also thanks for the tip on your contact cleaning method. My new relay should be in today.

@LBPete: thanx for the database update! Quickly fixed my backlog with fresh serialz:

The T-tag, a T with an additional top line in a circle, will be on the ID plate like this:
au_666_2144893.jpg
In this case, it also identifies the contractor SOC. It may or may not have the contractor.

The units built by contractors are identical to Sansui built units in every way. Occasionally there are component supplier differences but functionally and quality wise, they are identical. There have been discussions on contractor built units earlier in this thread and in other threads in AK.

Hi @AZPeter, welcome to AudioKarma Exclusively Sansui! Thanks for making your first post properly formatted Serial Numbers.

The first 9090 was built on production line 82 in October 1975. It was the 1,066th unit off that line that month. It's fairly early production. Line 82 was also building 8080s and 890s that month.

The second 9090 was built on line 82 in August 1976. It was the 696th unit off that line that month. Line 82 was also building 890s that month.

Your serial numbers will be in the March report available in early April.

All labels were very legible this time around.
Also present on the site was a 3000A with its serial number tag ripped off :(

It looks like a warmed over version of the 331/441 but strangely, the position of the speaker switch and phono plug are reversed.
Huh? I compared it with a picture of a 331 for reference, and didn't find any differences at all besides the different faceplate, gold dial, and X0X0 series style knobs.

And the 331 for reference:

The back of the Classique 350 has this helpful layout diagram in the back, but is otherwise identical to the 331

I think it is safe to say that the Classique 350 is a rebranded 331, like how the Classique 250 is a rebranded 221.
More info on the Classique 250: https://audiokarma.org/forums/index.php?threads/info-on-sansui-classique-250.4260/

P.S. The Classique 550 also exists, but that is a rebranded 6060 and not a rebranded 551.
Considering the 6060 was sold in many bundle packages later in its life, it's not too strange, but still...

@RZ1, I was comparing it to my 441 and assumed it would have the same layout as the 331. There have been several discussions on the early Classique series being based on other models. We have 45 different Classique models on file. Most are from the 1980s.

@PE9ZZ, @cnyel1967, thanks I have yours too.
