2275 Dial Pointer Coating?

[Perkinsman]

Is there a special coating on the bottom half of the pointer? As you can see, mine has a nick that I’d like to recoat with similar translucency.

I believe it's just white paint. It's what reflects the light as it comes down the translucent pointer.

I ended up using some white acrylic paint and it looks much better, works just fine.

And no one will ever know the difference behind the face plate.
