2385 reconnect PS00 to P400 pin question

Your voltages on the schematic. All look OK.
Maybe QS02 is questionable because the base voltage and emitter voltage are the same. There should be a ~0.7v voltage drop due to the diode drop.
Check for a short between the emitter and base on the PC board, or shorted RS04?

Check to make sure that the FM Muting push switch is OFF and that the MUTING LEVEL control on the back of the receiver is on minimum.

QS02 no short,
QS02 no short, RS04 no short but as you see in the photo there is a dead short between the pins i marked on the photo, not sure if that is connected normally

That's not a short. Those lines are connected to each other with the trace (blue dotted line). You should be able to see it on the PC board.

It seems all should be good, I will spend more time looking for a loose wire ,something stopped the fm after the board failed and was replaced. thank you for all of your help with this. Seems strange that the fm works as far as dialing in a station but sound is very faint. pete

The part in the photo was not installed when i put the receiver back together, just confirming that this isnt needed to separate wires that could cause my issue. thanks

Looks like part 0433 on the diagram. Maybe a shield for the volume control to keep noise from affecting the audio on the Volume Control.

Could 0435 be an insulating pad stuck to the bottom cover?
The 2500 has a similar part to the 0433 called a shield, 053G, but no name for the pad 057G.

Looking at your photo a little more closely, you do have that pad (0435). It is attached to the bottom side of the shield (0433).

Thanks , i will reinstall it while looking to see if there is a loose wire or something touching that shouldnt be,

Do these wires on the indicator light band look correct, the last grey wire was loose and reconnected where you see it , seems to be ground, just want to make sure that wire is not incorrect and causing issue with fm sound? I am wondering if the grey wire should be on pin 10 pete

When using FM both AM and FM led light up, just confirming that is not correct? pete

Did the AM and FM lights used to work before you started to change components?
Before the issue with the board, AM LED on AM only FM LED on FM and FM worked properly. Ive removed the PS00 and i am checking all pin traces for conection ,then i will spend more time looking at the other boards. I can help but thing the issue is when on FM selection it is somehow connecting AM feed to LED pete

The function lights are primarily driven by the position of the selector rotary switch on the front panel, but I'm having a hard time figuring out the selector positions. It's not the same as other Marantz models. Still not sure why both AM & FM LEDs light up.

Ive progressed a bit, All lights work as they should, AM works perfectly, FM works but cuts out when receiver is on more than 5 min, comes back after it cools, phono 1 and 2 perfect, aux perfect. So for now any ideas on why fm stops working after 5 min, also i notice if i find a clear station, wait untill it gives me its frequency, move pointer to that frequency, then i can not get full range when using dial, its too far to left or right to get full range, it seems the station does not come in where it used to, i get full movement when just using dial no pointer left and right. The receiver only has had the two main power caps replaced, im thinking i should recap the fm board, is there only one board that affects fm or do you think all boards should be recapped.

After the 5 min. does the signal strength meter show that you lose the station signal or does the pointer stay the same and only the audio disappears?
Did you remove the dial string when servicing other parts of the receiver?
Did you attempt to clean the tuning capacitor with some type of cleaner when you should not have?
Is the dial pointer slipping or still glued to the string?

I tried unit again and no more sound on FM, needles move when using dial, also when you get close to a station you hear a rumbling sound, almost sounds like not enough signal to pull in station, im using a tv rabbit ear as antenna . the string was removed but was never glued, the top of the pointer plate has three nubs sticking up, you move the string back to the first center nub, then move forward to the front left and right nub, when installed string does not slip. Did not attempt or clean tuning capacitor, dont even know where that is.

I connected the string antenna that came with the receiver no change, i have figured out one the problems, the string is running in reverse, the 590 am is where 1500 should be so it must be the way i connected the string, i can change that, just the loss of sound with the FM. left to settle. I am attaching photos on how the string is run, when i turn the tuning dial to the left, the wheel above what i believe is the tuning mech also goes left, is it supposed to be opposite ?
