A few songs left off the list...

Convoy
Disco Duck
Afternoon Delight
Muskrat Love

Oh what a long list this could get to be...

He STILL didn't get The Cheesiest- "Playground in My Mind'-Clint Holmes, 1973, "Run, Joey, Run", David Geddes, 1975, "Afternoon Delight", Starland Vocal Band, 1976. I'm sure there are others. "My name is Michael, I gotta Nickle..."

Oh, yeah...An' THIS one was bangin' around my Head, tryin' to be free-"Seasons in the Sun", Terry Jacks, 1974. Of course, we GOTTA include the immortal "Kung Foo Fighting", Carl Douglas, again Class of '74. '74 was my favorite year, I guess, I was 17 & not a care in the world. But WHY did the music have to SUCK so bad, looking back on it ? At least we DID have "Radar Love" by Golden Earring, that made the summer not suck QUITE so bad...

On the U.K. side:

My Coo-Coo Cachoo - Alvin Stardust
Save Your Kisses For Me - Brotherhood Of Man (or anything by them)
A Rose Has To Die - The Dooleys
I'm In The Mood For Dancin' - The Nolans
The Bump - Kenny
Wig Wam Bam - Sweet

Don't get me wrong, I love these records but they still are cheesy!

How about Popcorn by Hot Butter...
And Hooked on a Feeling, Blue Swede's version.

Another of the Great Class of '74....WOOGA CHOCKA OOGA OOGA...I love it.. Was a BIG hit in ChattanOOGA, for some reason...I know, 'cause I WAS THERE.

Billy Don't Be A Hero - Bo Donaldson and The Heywoods and Paper Lace (Both Versions)
The Night Chicago Died - Paper Lace

How did he miss....

Lovin' You - Minnie Ripperton
Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band (agree with Sandy here)

Edit: Wikipedia! I didn't know that Saturday Night Live actress Maya Rudolph was Minnie Ripperton's daughter, and Lovin' You was written to distract Maya as a young child. interesting, I still think it's intolerably cheezy.

and more....

Jeans On - David Dundas
I Like Dreamin' - Kenny Nolan
Save The Last Dance For Me - The DeFranco Family (Yes the Drifters song)
A Little Bit Of Soap - Nigel Ollson
I Go Crazy - Paul Davis
Rhinestone Cowboy - Glen Campbell...
Torn Between Two Lovers - Mary McGregor

I could go on and on...but hey like I said, I grew up with these songs and bought them so they are a part of me...cheesy or not...LOL but I will admit that I've never bought "Run Joey Run" by David Geddes...ewwwwww I need my barf bag now...

Most of my favorites have already been mentioned.

How about Vicki Lawrence's big hit: "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia"

Not to mention Cher's "swarthy" trilogy of "Dark Lady", "Half Breed" and "Gypsies Tramps and Thieves".

The only thing I'd say in Minnie Riperton's defense is that she died of cancer in 1979. She DID have a remarkable voice, cheesy song notwithstanding.
