2nd SoCal LA/OC/IE/SD AudioKarma Meet, Sat. August 27, 2011

I'm mostly a lurker, but I'm in Socal and will make the show. I'd love to show off my Pioneer Exclusives if anyone would like to see/hear them. I'll watch this thread with much anticipation. :music:

Hi SC,

Good to have you on board, don't know much about your Exclusives but sounds interesting and I'm sure it would be great to see and hear them.

OK, bump for all you SoCal's on the freeway.

Hi Badman,

Bring the kids, assuming they're under 12 y/o, the church has a playground area with a climbing gym, slide, and swings. We don't have any childcare (yet) but we could find some stuff for them to do. Just a thought.

Just thought I'd ask so as to bump

So do you have plans for a swap table? If so should folks list thinkgs they could bring to see if others would be interested in them?

Is anybody bringing headphone amps? It be great to try some out with my Yamaha HP-1 orthodynamics. I don't have anything all that interesting to bring save for my B&O M70's in case the doubters want to hear what good vintage B&O speakers sound like before they lost their mind with putting form over function.

Yes, am strongly considering swap/barter or sales table(s). Need to work out whether separate or at display space, or both. I know not everyone is gonna want to or can bring a system to demo/show. So when we get our heads together we can work that out and then discuss what we'll bring or what people are interested in. However, we may need to keep it out of the thread to avoid perception of adverts for selling?

Wouldn't be much of a fest without a swap/barter/sale table. I'm thinking of bringing my tri-amplified Braun LV1020 speakers. Each driver has a dedicated amp built into the cabinet.

Those are sweet. I almost bought a pair in the way back.

Hi Fellas!

I'm thinking about taking my recently acquired 1963 Marantz Model 10 tuner. Serial No. 35 of a total of 100 made.

Sweet #10! That would look nice in the Marantz tube display section. Maybe we can organize some displays by manufacturer.

Hey Guys,

Finally got the word from the Pastor of the church venue - can't have any alcohol on the premises, it is a conservative church. So for anyone wanting to quaff some brews, you'll have to do it on a break off site or for lunch/dinner.

I'll also have to limit the whole day to 7:00am open for setup, and 8:00am for registration and opening, assuming we're awake! If we run this long, will need to end around 7:30pm, clean up and reset chairs for up to 1 hour, close up by 8:30pm. I need to leave by then to be at LAX airport by 9:30pm - going on a United Airlines Mileage Plus mileage run - 11:00 pm LAX - ORD and back by 9:30am Sunday.

We'll need to get the steering committee together within the next 2 weeks to get all the planning done, physically or online. Looking forward to seeing all of you!

Based on the last on, 7 to 7 may be too long. I'm not real excited about getting there before 8 in the morning. I like audio but that's early for a Saturday.

Oh, I hear you. Definitely not required to be there or start that early, just thinking out loud about what might be setup. Certainly could entertain starting later morning like 9 or 10 even, gives folks a chance to do some garage sale-ing if they want to or have a leisurely morning before coming to the event. Certainly would welcome folks whenever they can get there, even if they reserve a set-up space.

As for ending time, just wanted to give folks the opportunity to stay a bit longer if they want to listen to music, talk, or whatever. We could always end a bit earlier so folks can head home to dinner or whatnot, lots of choices here.

Only thing is to have sufficient help to clean up and reset the sanctuary chairs for next day's service.

Question: should there be any limit on how much stuff a participant may bring to sell or barter? Should we charge for a specific selling space if that's what they are there for specifically, or can they "sell" at their display or system area too?

These are all questions that need to be worked out. I think that's best done in a meeting of the organizers rather than in an open forum. Are you up for a planning meeting?
