2SC1116 Transistor dilemma.

It's certainly almost impossible to find replacement transistors that come close to 10Mhz Ft, almost all are no higher than 4Mhz, yes they will work with a noticeable decrease in performance, especially intermodular distortion & that's a big issue in Capacitor Coupled amplifiers like the 7000 and many others. The RCA's I pulled from the amp have an Ft of 1Mhz, who thought that was a good replacement? Anyhow, I'm sticking with the original 2SC1116, I just have to find 1 more, I have 3 working ones.
 
Not the same, the 2SC1116 is a 10mhz device, so gotta be careful with the blanket MJ21194/3/5/6 statement, yes they will work but I believe they change the performance of the amplifier, mainly in the TIM department.
Yes, that 10MHz is "typical" and not set in stone. The same for the MJ with 4MHZ being "minimum" depending on the method of arriving to that figure. The MJ "max" speed isn't published. But the 7000 isn't a "high speed" amp and the MJ will feel right at home in this model. Plus that's not to say it actually utilizes the 10MHz capability of the transistor. Now it were a G or other "high speed" amp, I can completely agree. Think of using the KSA/SC 2690/1220 in the G-9000 to replace the "original" slower transistors. It isn't even coming close to utilizing the "speed" of those replacements. Many brands used the A1116/C747 in "slower" circuits back in the day.
 
The seller is qualitysparepart in Manchester, NJ. They are listed as NOS, I'd say that's another red flag. He is arguing with me of course about the refund and wants proof. I told him I'd blow one up for him, lol. There isn't much you can prove without doing that unfortunately, although I am certain the really high Hfe readings at 2.5 ma (80's for the fakes compared to 30's for the real ones) is a dead giveaway. Push those babies to 2 to 5 amps and I bet they fry, forget about running them at the maximum of 10 amps.
 
Attached photo. The "2" looks odd and the 3 letters/numbers below the main line are uneven in size. In the 2nd picture the round indentation looks odd. Thoughts?

That IS wehavethatitem. Adele told me she moved to a new place in Manchester before she sold out. And by the sounds of things, the "argument" and "prove it" is the same as what I got too from them. Is the guy's name "Jay Morgan" by any chance? I also got a reply by someone named "Joey", but the message signature is Jay Morgan.

Looks counterfeit to me. I just pulled an original and absolutely genuine 2SC1116A from a Sansui 9090 and your "ink" job isn't right. Plus I have seen the exact same code of "B8Y on hundreds of other fake transistors.

Put it back on your Peak and get the VBE. Mine reads 0.595v (Peak DCA75) VCEsat of 0.033v and hFE 35.
 
Real one
Hfe = 31
Vbe = 0.584V
Ib = 4.37mA
Fake one
Hfe = 80
Vbe = 0.627V
Ib = 4.33mA
The 4.33 is the test current applied. But the Vbe of .627 is high... Check the saturation. I'll go get my DCA-55 so we're a bit closer in accuracy for comparison.
