30 Altec 605 lot on the Bay!

I wonder if any of the amplification system was saved????

Considering this is a university surplus auction, anything is possible if they have a good recycling/surplus vibe on campus.

Thanks to the OP for alerting us to this. This would be worth flying to Oklahoma for, renting a minivan/truck, and distributing to worthy AK'ers along the way back home!

A couple amplifiers at most, probably just a single 1570. Note the transformers, these were powered from a 35 or 70 volt distribution line.

FWIW, the ceilings of the Waldorf Astoria are littered with 604B, or used to be.

Those may well serve to cool the value of 605B's for a while.

Looking at the map, this is a suburb of Oklahoma City, where the Altec plant was if I'm informed correctly.

Could these actually be surplus from the factory, or test units? Interesting...

It seems like they'd make more selling individually, but they probably don't want to go through the hassle.

Based on the non-Peerless looking line transformer and the fact that 605's were made in Anaheim, i would say probably not.

This is true. They probably just want them out of the way, but they could have made a lot more money for the university in smaller lots. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if GPA turned out to be the high bidder, they do sell used Altec parts on eBay from time to time.
