30 Altec 605 lot on the Bay!

Well I'll be...wonder if a road trip South is in my future? Probably not since these will probably go for considerable $$ to a local.

So what would be a good price per pair for someone who bought the lot and wanted to sell them off rather quickly? $500 per speaker? I'm not too familiar with the valuation of vintage Altecs.

I'm about two hours from Edmond. I'd be interested in them if I could make some good money on them. I'm trying to figure what a good price per pair, would be, when reselling so i wouldn't have to sit on them too long. Of course AKers would get first dibs.

I was going to say the same thing! The seller added a note to the listing near the end that said, one or two of them might be blown! Hmmmmm

$9100 wouldn't have been the final price. A group over at the Altec forum submitted a $9000 bid, and that was just the final sniped result. I'm guessing the actual buyer may have gone up to $1000-$2000 higher...

And who decides who gets nice matched pairs or the many in the lot with issues?

Group buys are great for new production, guaranteed goods.

303 each for 605's in unknown condition, shaky disclosure at best, and likely sagging from a ceiling for 40+ years does not in my book begin to approach a bargain.

There's something about seeing something like that in quantity that can become overwhelming when we're used to seeing them as individuals and pairs.

It is a big ole happy speaker party!

But, i'd sure like to have a "fly on the wall" perspective of what it takes for the purchaser to become whole on his 9100 again, and what he still has when that point is reached.:yes:

I had a snipe set at $4K. I knew it was a long shot at best since the bid was at $2,500 when I set it, but I thought with the no shipping I might have a SLIM chance. But it past my snipe with over 2hrs left. Oh well.
