'80's rock bands that sucked & still do......

As much as I like REO Speedwagon, they really have some 80's stuff that has all the bells and wistles of 80's music, just like Warrant and Poison. That stuff is NOT for me.:no:

Although, I do really like REO's early stuff. Everything Hi Infidelity and before to be exact. Ive got like 15 of their cds. A couple are quite rare. Would love to have their first self title 1971 one, but it goes for >$200 on eBay.:sigh:

I can play Ridn the Storm Out all day and never get tired of it.:music:

I'm with you. I'll take Hi Infidelity and back, as well. Oh. I have their first album in about an 8 out of 10 condition on vinyl. I have the first 10 albums on vinyl, I think. (not for sale, of course...lol) I'll have to check that when I get home later in the week. Great old stuff. Riding the Storm Out can never get old.

I still have my Hi Infidelity LP... still like new... probably only played a small handfull of times. I used to put my albums on tape, so many of them have only been played twice... the first time to sample, set record levels, and make sure it all sounded fine... and then played once more while running a reel and a cassette. Regarding Hi Infidelity, I also have a CD and still enjoy it now and then.

I grew up in the 80's... graduated in '87. I liked a lot of the music from back then, and still do today. I sometimes listen to 106.9 FM out of Houston... they play 80's. Much of it I did not like... then or now... and damn near want to put a fist thru the radio when that friggin' WHIP IT song comes on!

There's gonna be bands/tunes you will like, and there's gonna be others you won't. You could say the same for just about any decade. Out of all the bands I've seen listed in this thread so far, I like about half and dislike the other half.

If you're really wanting to guage how good or bad someone was durning the 80's, look at how many albums they made and sold... and how many singles made it big. I'm sure if someone truly sucks, they're not going to sell a lot of albums.

Someone earlier mentioned Madonna on their "suck" list. I personally think she's "okay". She has tunes I like, and others I do not. I recall thinking she was a little weird when she first came out. Think about this: Madonna is considered a pop icon. She's sold about 200 million records worldwide. After 25 years in the business, she still packs a full house no matter where she goes. Her most recent tour is said to be the most successful of any female artist in history. She is the highest earning female singer of all time, according to the 2007 Guinness Book of Records. Madonna was big in the 80s, big in the 90s, and she's big today. I'm also quite positive that she likely makes more money than any of us SOB's could ever dream of.

Madonna was only an example. As I said... I personally think she's "okay". Points such as the ones I mentioned regarding Madonna could be said about a number of the bands/singers previously mentioned in this thread... so I don't think it can be said they all sucked. Perhaps, instead, this thread should have been titled "80's Rock Bands Whom I Did Not Like."

The Scorpions are not really an 80"s hair band anyway. They go back to the late 60's. By the 80's they didn't have much hair either. Even less now. Still do a pretty good live show though.
 
"Boston" gets 6 of the top 10 spots of crummy bands, i dont much care for Aerosmith either i can tolerate most anything else.

Damn straight. Springsteen isn't exactly an 80's band either, but then, many of the bands listed in this thread neither sucked, nor were from the 80's.

I'm not a Springsteen fan, But I wouldn't say he sucks.

Van Halen? 1978, people. Sucked? Whatever.

XTC sucked? :wtf:

Every band that tried to re-invent themslves. Let's talk about:
The Allman Bros. (Greg Allman Band)
YES (Asia)
Lynyrd Skynyrd (all of the attempts were bad)
Bad Co. (The Firm)
Black Sabbath (Everthing after Ozzy left)
Led Zepplin (Concert with John Bonham's son on drums - Roberts voice SUCKED)
Genesis (everything after Peter Gabriel left)

For many of the "super bands" the 80's were an experiment that went bad. IMNSHO :tears:

I liked Boston... saw them at the Texas Jam '87 in Dallas. Still have my T-shirt... although it's getting a little thin now days. I bought the 3rd stage album, but did not really like it very much compared to the previous ones. I thought the entire album sounded like the Amanda track.... the tune and chords were basically the same throughout most of album.

I see someone hit a soft spot for likely more than a few Rock fans.:nono: I'm glad a few others did the light flaming job for me.:whip: The thing nobody addressed at all that I think is the most important factor is the fact that Boston is a 70's band, not a stupid, lipstick wearing, 80's bisexual, ego-cheese, rock band.:smsex: Aerosmith is a 70's band as well. A bit closer to "cheese rock" maybe (another thread).

Back to the original topic. My answer ALL sucked and ALL still do....:puke:
