Are these the TOTL Carver receivers?

The Carver Receiver, 150 wpc
MXR-150, 150 wpc
HR 772, 140 wpc
Carver 2000, 200 wpc

The first Carver Receiver was just "The Receiver" 130x2
Then came the MXR-130, which was the same. It was then changed to the MRX-150, 150x2, without any changes to the design.
Then came the Carver 2000
After that, it was all HT.

My "The Receiver" is rated at 150 wpc. I have the HR-772, which is definitely a two channel receiver. I'm not sure if it came before or after the 2000.

It is a little pretentious for Bob to call his first receiver "The Carver Receiver". On its own, my example is a good performer. Build quality is not no-compromise level and there is a little "empty box" disease in mine making me question the 150 wpc rating. In use, it runs relatively cool and makes plenty of power. Sound remains composed throughout its power envelope and that is good.

I think the Carver 6250 (circa 1989) belongs somewhere in that group. 125 watts per channel, gunmetal gray, looks like The Carver Receiver, and has no HT provisions. I believe it was the last, along with the 6200, of "The Receiver" models. Sounds good, too! :D

Hi guys,

Ah ah...glad to see a post on CARVER. Just this past week I found a nearly mint (looking)
"CARVER MAGNETIC FIELD POWER AMPLIFIER".
At first, I thought it some sort of Integrated Amp until I got the unit home and discovered there was infact a tuner. Try as I might, I can find NO discription/model numbers other than the aformention "CARVER MAGNETIC FIELD POWER AMPLIFIER" which is on the TOP FRONT of the unit. Whatever this CARVER Receiver model, this is one IMPRESSIVE looking unit. My Receiver works quite well...EXCEPT...for what appears to be a "short" in the AUX input. Other than that, beautiful! Any info on this Receiver would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
SixCats!

The Carver Receiver" was 130wpc, and 157wpc at clipping. It morphed into The Carver Receiver 150. Neither one has a model number on it, either on the front or back. The Receiver 150 was rated at 150wpc, and 157wpc at clipping. Never stated any 4 ohm stats. The receiver 900 started life as a 90wpc affair, and morphed into 100wpc.

The Receiver 2000 was in the line long before any of the receivers with the HR prefix.

I was fortunate enough to get paid to demonstrate Carver products from 1991-1992. Before I started the job I requested they send me every owners manual, pamphlet, brochure, etc. regarding their products. I received a bundle, and if PMed would be happy to TRY and answer questions regarding individual component specs and stuff like that, right out of the Carver literature they sent me.

Excellent! I've been looking over my new to me Carver. How can you tell a "THE" 130 wpc from a "THE" 150 wpc?

The Receiver 900 seems to have been omitted. No HT, it goes as far back as the rest. 90wpc.
I was wondering if you might be able to tell me the weight of the Carver 900? Can't seem to find it anywhere. I have access to a fair amount of Carver information but nowhere near your knowledge or resources having sold the equipment. Thanks for your help!

Chris

Technical question.

Are the transformer blue and orange secondary windings supposed to measure .6 ohms between one another unsoldered from the board? This transformer sounds like it's arcing when I plug it in. It also smells a little burnt inside the case. Or are these wires internally connected somehow?

This really isn't the right thread for this sort of question, and most of those in this thread aren't active on AK and one has unfortunately passed away.

You've dredged up several old threads with a bunch of disparate questions. Please don't do this. Get all your questions in one place and start your own thread,
