It looks like some kinda car audio thing, designed to solve some incompatibility issue there?? A Mickey Mouse, solution to solve an issue you don't have at it's finest, if that is the way you want to go???

Take a step back and recalculate, if you want to keep and use the Onky, you don't need to change it. But you don't need to work so hard to try and blow it up either?? And you know ... take other gear with it ... on it's way out?? Use it within it's design envelope and you will be fine!

AVR's are pretty much designed to be used with subs. That is why they have, sub woofer cross overs built into them. Now I prefer "not" to use the sub cross over in my AVR's and I hook my powered subs up to the high level inputs on the subs I use but that's another story. :)

But you have to set some "priority's" and you should use the gear you have within it's design parameters. That said if you can get a good deal on the Emotive .. I'd say go for it! It's a cool piece but it "won't" solve your current issue?? Get it and put it away and "plan on" acquiring other gear that can properly utilize it. :)

That would be step one. Step two ... would be for now ... turn it down! Don't clip the AVR it's bad for it and worst for the speakers! Step three would be to plan on getting a "Powered Sub," a proper sub, will most likely solve all your issues?? You won't destroy your AVR or your Speakers, with a powered sub, you would be taking the heavy lifting off of them as it were. It's pretty much that simple. :)

Thanks for the link to the boxer forum - definitely checking this out tomorrow - now to my "problem" ha :) I don't really have one but would like to see what the full range of my Monsters are :).

So the Line Out Converter, If I understand it correctly converts the speaker cable from speaker outs on your stereo to a "line out" or basically converts High voltage to lower voltage and terminates in a RCA plug which can then be plugged into an amp and run to the speakers (I guess this is also called a High Low converter). Correct in that car audio guys use this alot to get factory stereo (lacking line outs) to connect to aftermarket or added on amplifiers.

According to other posts on other forums (google is hard to navigate for certain like this) this technology is easily adaptable to a home stereo but at the peril of this Line Out Converter if you are wrong and fry the wiring and trip the fuse or what not on your amp or stereo.

Any how I love the link to the Boxers!! I should post a pic of our boy so you can see....

Mixing car crap and home audio ... did not work out to well for me in the past ... all I'll say there. :(

And I see your guy has the funny eye thing going on! Quite common in some White dogs. He looks to be an America Line Boxer?? They are slimier and smaller than there Euro counter parts, but all the male Boxers make the females look small by comparison. My Struddell, who passed away in 2013 a victim of "DM," sadly a not uncommon Boxer thing. :(

She weighted in at 65 lbs of solid muscle pretty much a typical Malinois weight, so she was not exactly a tiny dog!! She was of course "Goofy" as a crap (an American Boxer thing) AKA Clown Prince of the Dog World! But she was also one in thousands ... truly no fear! She'd have been a very rare American Line IPO or LE enforcement prospect! I only know of uh "ONE" such Boxer from many years ago .. all the rest are "Euro's."

But all I did was let her chase bunny rabbits off leash in the desert at 30+ mph and could recall her at will! If I tried to do that with my new/current Boxer/Pit mix ... yeah she'd begone!!! Ticks me off!!

I never had use of an E-Collar in the past ... but you gotta work with the dog you have and not the dog you had ... "apparently??" :)
 
chip18sw gave good advice on the possibility of using a subwoofer. I have taken a long look at your receiver from your link and there really is no good way to connect an external amp to power your Cerwin Vega's. All those speaker out converters will cause nothing but trouble for you. If you spend the money for the Emotiva amp on a powered subwoofer and then use the Onkyo's "AccuEQ Room Calibration" to allow the sub to handle the low frequencies, you may be able to keep the Cerwin Vega's from clipping and increase your sound quality. Certainly understand why you want to keep the Onkyo, and as long as you do, this may be your best option.
