Yeah.. been watching for a ice cream motor too, but so far all I have found are crank units, and that's more work than I want

Thanks for the compliments Brett... I'm sure I'll be making improvements over time, but I did like where the switches are too... Just seemed easier to use those, instead of regular toggle switches since I alread had switches laying around. Just had to get the plates while I was at wally world.

I am not sure how much vacuum you are looking for, but years
ago i worked in the windsurfing industry and the custom sailboard
we raced on where "vacuum laminated" and the designers used
vacuum pumps that could peel paint.

I am kidding, but not really... they were extremely powerful.

Suck the grooves off a platter, i betcha. lol. jk.

Anyway, I was just curious what vacuum level you are looking to achieve?
What works best?

Hey Sim, couldn't you just pick up a pulley that is as big as the plater and replace the smaller pulley. That would greatly slow down the spin and greatly increase the torque. Those type pullies are not that expensive. Cheers.

I probably could, but then I would need to find a bigger belt too.. If I got one the size of the platter, the belt wouldn't fit the pulley, much less the motor too....

I'm happy and content for the moment. I'm sure something will eventually present itself.. Being a cheap bastard

I think you have a gearing option with the motor and platter gear you have. the motor, or small pinion gear is fairly large. if you reduce that by half or so, the result would be quite dramatic, and the existing belt could be used with just a small adjustment of the motor outwards.

Been following in the footsteps of far greater people once again here GW had a 50% sale and I came home with a portable vacuum with attachments and a bread machine.

The latter is gutted. It is driven by belt with teeth, large wheel can probably ? be attached to platter which I currently have fixed on 3/4" MDF platform.

The dream is eventually to computer control it; can salvage parts off the control board. Might end up being a pipe dream, I dunno.
