I've just purchased some nichicon kg caps to replace the main smoothers on this amp, I remember reading that you wire them in with some heavy gauge wire, do you have a picture of that you could share? Thanks

Not a very detailed pic, but these are 10,000uf 63V Nichicon Gold Tune caps wired with 16ga bare solid-core copper wire.
 
Sorry to resurrect this old thread but is the KSC2690AY still a good replacement for the 2SC1451 in an E-202, specifically the phono stage, or are there better alternatives?
My E-202 is currently being completely overhauled and the tech ran into some issues with these and I'm just trying to help out.

What's wrong with the 2SC-1451s? Has your tech actually tested them? Does he have a curve tracer?

Japanese transistor substitution manual puts 2SC-1628, 2SC-1903 or a 2SC-3800 all as subs. Bear in mind you want the lowest noise rank (G/GR equiv) for anything phono and he should buy a bag and match them.

Personally, I wouldn't let anyone near my E-202 who couldn't find a transistor or an equivalent. It's a warning sign he has no idea what he is doing.

Since they're known for causing problems, they will get replaced. Indeed he has, on both questions. This is what he said:

"I dug seven out of the jar. I ran my transistor tester and took curves on all of them. Some were broken, others were completely wrong in their values. But I managed to find two with the right values and they were very similar to each other. I replaced one of the transistors and that channel started working right away."

Even though the two he found might work for now, they're ticking timebombs plus it's a complete restauration of the amp so would prefer to have them replaced as well.
It seems most substitutes are obsolete, hence my resurrection of this thread, since the one mentioned here actually isn't obsolete.

EDIT: Sorry I didn't know that KSC3503 is gone. KSC2690AYS still can found on digikey. I had used it on pioneer but be sure it works and don't oscillate due bigger Cob.
TTC004B might work too.
