across the bench: an electronic menagerie of diagnostic oddities plus photos and design analysis

sony mds-je320 - 4.jpg
recorded a few test tracks to test the system playback ability as well, digital and analog work fine

still be a good idea to do a recap and maybe higher grade signal caps, if any exist.

nad 218 thx - 3.jpg
one of the dc bus fuses has melted open over the years causing the offset issue and protect cycling

after installing a fresh fuse, should normally be 6.3a slow (seems over-sized), things seemed stable enough for higher variac output testing and taking it off the chain (dim bulb). adjusting bias on each channel, in the photo.

idle wattage after warm, up and bias set around 6mv each channel

amp plays and can thrash to some extent, that should do it for now. doing a recap looks expensive at first glance.

pwm mod 3.jpg
motorola 2.1 channel, perhaps vintage style plate amp minus preamp umbilical, exercising EL84 outputs

pwm heater control seems to be functional, just have to watch current flow and not over-voltage the heaters. pwm duty cycle under 10%.

rtr dymistatic - 1.jpg
recapping xover system (pair of panels) for hybrid electrostatic speakers, not much info about the brand floating around

rtr dymistatic speakers with a 360 degree esl tweeter on top. havent bumped into any documentation yet but nothing is burned up on the xover boards nor the extra high voltage board either.
