Acurus A250 and starground

Listening to the stock A200 and I fully understand why Mondial might have chosen not to use the post-fuse-caps in this model, considering the more pricey Aragon also had to be a notch or two better at the local radiostore when they were sold at that time.. The A200 sounds fare more musical then the older standard A250! There should be quite good potential with a soldering iron:)
At first I wanted to keep this one, but the devil on my shoulder wants me to continue implanting the A200 scheme in my A250, with the higher railvoltage... So I might just restore the A200 and bring it back on the market. Don't know yet:p But it does indeed sound much better then I thought!

What are the diffrances in schematics A250 vc A200? Accept ps caps capacity, transformer and rail voltages? By the way my friend just found very nice A200x3 in Sweden and when I looked at my schematics I have it says A250 & A200x3, so are they really the same accept for third channel added and is A200x3 diffrent than A200? Sorry if that was already answered earlier this thread.

It has to be the GEN2 amps to be different schematic (the ones with a oval in the faceplate). The difference aren't that big, the most known is the diff-transistor section where the GEN2 amps is degraded. Also as @mondialfan has mentioned, the GEN2 has individual circuits for left and right channel, improving the noise floor over the older GEN1 amps.
Besides from that, Mondial shifted for MKT to MKP caps in their never models.
Overall this makes a more detailed and musical amp.
Regarding the amp in Sweden: Don't know if it's a GEN1 or 2 but, to my knowledge the GEN2 A200x3 is equipped with the xformer from the A250.
If it's the first model A200x3 then is generic an A250 with a 3rd channel.

Edit: I might be wrong with the xformer. Other my correct me:)

My friend lent my A200 for a week or two last evening. He has BOSE-speaker's, not to my liking, but we agreed that the A200 should be better then he's integrated Harmon Kardon powering the speakers.
Got a message in the middle of the night from him saying: "F********ck this sounds good:p:p:p:p!!!"

As an Acurus owner and fan this makes me quite happy:)

Good day AK

Is there any markets (websites) in the US that I should know of..??
I'm getting quite desperate getting an RL11.... Almost a year of search and not a single unit yet

Regards

USAudiomart or Audiogon, however unless you'll be paying for express delivery service you'll be waiting for a longer than normal time. The international shipping situation seems to be very slow.

Yes everything is on a stall. I have a friend in Sweden who's been waiting for a brand new amp, ordered online, for almost 4 weeks now. Delivery shouldn't be more then a week max!.... Normally that is...

Anyway..... Is there a mouser partnr for a suitable bridge rectifier? I looked up the original A250 bridge, but no luck.

Regards

I'm building my friend's new A250, psudo-dual mono ect... For free, he pays for the parts. But would be nice just to keep the original bridge, if a new matching one can still be ordered.

Bought a new soldering station: Ersa RDS80.
So far I'm quite pleased:) the picture is taken while the iron is heating up, not the temp I use btw:)

Looking very nice!
Thanks.. I'm very much inspired by the amp you posted at page#1 @mondialfan ... Now I have to decide which direction the e.caps should turn... Like yours, or 90° turn on the caps making the ground plate far more easy to make, but longer wires to the rails.. the picture is like yours..

Regards

Is there any problems taking the power directly from the psu at the caps to the T1 led in the switch in a dual mono setup?

Edit... I would have gone for the secondary at xformer, but forgot while soldering the new wires:confused:
Would be a pain in the a** to redo it:)

Ok answering my own question..... The T1 would light for ages after the power is turned of, if I connect to the PSU-caps!!! Not preferred..

Tie it to one side of the transformer secondary at the rectifier. Then you'll need a blocking diode (halfwave rectifier) and resistor in the circuit for current limiting. Run the return wire from the LED back to star ground.
