they make a number of different clear plastic devices that allow you to visualize the tracking angle maybe one of these would be something you would be interested in getting. I had one here but it was a bit difficult to use needing the camera to magnify and since I have adjustable on the fly vertical tracking angle, I didn’t need to have the plastic gauge.

Yes, adjustable micrometer VTA is definitely the way to go. Can really fine tine cartridge. So glad I bought one for my Jelco tonearm.

I have always thought all this tail up, tail down and more treble, more bass, stuff is pretty much nonsense. Unless the angles are extreme, the frequency response of the cartridge/stylus doesn't change that much. I have always just set the cartridge so its mounting surface is parallel to the record surface and not fret about it.

The following pic is of the Ortofon 2M Blue on the Technics SL-1400. Seems that the rake angle is less than 90 degrees on it. Sounds great as it is, but I am wondering if this is going to cause undue wear and if the sound cna be ev en better by making a change to the VTA and the SRA in any way.

If you can't adjust the arm's height, could you shim the rear of the cart itself to get the VTA in spec? That has worked on a TT I once had.
