ADS-910's

Bumping this one up because I'm joining the 910 club as well. I've never even heard any ADS speakers, but I stumbled across a pair at a local estate sale online. I'll hopefully pick them up on Friday. I'm looking forward to seeing what shape they're in (online pictures aren't great, none with grills off), and seeing if they need any love. Hopefully I can make my way through all of this thread by then!

The cabinets looks good in the pics, and they have stands so that is a big plus. If you got them for $190 then that is a great score. Let us know what you think once you get them.

Are you in the Burlington area? I am down in the Middlebury area. Good to see another Vermonter

Yes, Shelburne actually.

Probably closer to $225 with the auction fees, etc., but way under market value if they're in decent shape from the other posts I've seen.

There was other audio gear in the auction, including a nak 680zx. But, it seems like we all got out of each other's way and spread the karma around. No crazy bidding wars and everything went for under market value.

You got those for a very good price! Overall they look pretty good from the three pics in the listing. Once you pick them up, take lots of pics to document it all! Remember, they weigh 100lbs each! Congrats and welcome to the 910 club!

Cheers, Glenn

I love my 910s, and they've changed my musical tastes. Much more jazz and prog-rock and a bit less blues, though I could never give them up. Easy to drive and will gulp up the power. I've used a pair of Adcom 555's which sounded great, and a NAD 208 thx, which sounds even better. Haven't tried the Carver M-500 yet. Glad you got them for such a great deal. I paid...much more for mine, but here in S. Arizona is not exactly ADS Central.

Stands sell for more then that. Great score! Lots of smiles here for you! Just don't tell me you got them in Dallas, I don't think my heart could take it.

And yet... ADST was located in Phoenix for a number of years, some of that gear had to have made it into the local market.

I found my L1230 there as well, was well worth the drive from San Diego to pick them up for a measly $400.

OK, so these are probably the most accurate (if that's the right word) speakers I've ever owned. I can definitely hear things in recordings that I've never heard before. And records I once thought were quiet are now somewhat noisy. There's plenty of bass, but it's punchy, not boomy. I fortunately have a very understanding wife, even though they look very big in our living room. These are keepers.

Yep, that's the right word. Now you know what the rest of us are talking about. I just love the sound of the ADS speaker systems. Never fatiguing. Bass is tight and solid. Mids are sweet.

Very happy for you to have found a set MarkNJ.

Very nice, and with the optional LED meters, factory stands! Also, the badges which are often missing!
WOW is a great word to describe the 910s! Listen to some LIVE stuff at volume!

Welcome to the ADS club 7 Cheers!

Yes both have badges one has serial number the other one is missing they have are painted black on the back the part im not sure of is that the meridian 577 amp is rated more then the speakers and the guy said if I push the amp I will damage the mids and tweeter.

Not true. An under powered amp turned up will clip, and that will fry the tweeters and possibly the mids. More power is always better.

Awesome purchase and WELCOME TO AK! Listen to GD70 he knows what a pair of 910's can do.

Just as a point of interest, I'm currently bi-amping a pair of ADS L1530's using a 260 watt amp just for the Tweeters and Mids. Haven't burned up the Tweeters or Mids yet. Curious, what amplifier you using?

Garry~

Meridian 577 amp. I looked it up, good specs. Should drive the 910s no problem.

I just joined the club bought a whole system at an estate sale he was the original owner he had some work done to them over the years all I can say is WOW.
Very nice! I do notice that the tweeter is not original. Did the original owner change the tweeters in both speakers so they're at least matching?

If what @beotek said above is true, just a heads up that fleebay has at least two tweeter models for the 910, depending on the serial number of your speakers. The 206-100 and 206-0117.

What ever the case, it's best to have matching tweeters. You can get the part numbers off the parts schedule on sportsbill. Any repairs can be done by Richard So ads speaker repair service.

Good eye! I was mesmerized by the LEDs I totally missed that! I agree, you need to get the correct tweeters.

That something i did not notice.
The other one is missing it's tag.
Number does not look like your numbers
Ill take all of the help to learn about the speakers.
