Yep. Cleaned them up, put some rubber rejuvenate on the woofer surrounds to soften them up. A bit dried out.

They sound very good for their size and can take some power. I think these tweeters could be a bit more sparkly. I wonder how they would sound if Richard So?

Nice little score there!
I would assume they would sound very good after Mr. So's magic touch. New caps could help too!

Richard would make the tweeters have new diaphragms but I don't know if this one uses ferrofluid. The sparkle might not be hidden by ferrofluid. Might want to check with Richard on that. Another step closer to that merit badge Glenn is working on for you.

L300C for $5.00,,,fwiw that is the very definition of a "no brainer" in my book,,,LOL...
I've been watching them lately,as I want a pair to try against my Canton GL-260.
I wish I could run into a pair of these for that price, congrats on a sweet deal for sure.

Great little speakers - - - driver parts listed below, my pair has the 0340 woofers but no s/n since they came to me from a former a/d/s employee. In general, my understanding is that a/d/s always used excellent film capacitors which very rarely require replacement. BTW, what did you use on the surrounds?

Excellent small speakers! I'm using a pair as the rear channels in my home theater along with L710s as the mains and an AVF144 as the center. I have an extra pair in reserve as possible replacements if necessary, or the start of a new 2 channel system using a Technics ST-C-3, SU-C03, and SL-7.

Considering how much more efficient a tweeter is than a woofer, I would strongly suspect that they have a resistor attenuating the tweets. If you can find that resistor, you could lower the value a bit and bring the tweets more to the forefront. I don't think the ADS tweets have ever had a reputation for anything but goodness. That resistor would be my first thought.

They used electrolytics & film. Depends. I replaced the electrolytics in my L300Cs and they definitely sounded better. They are also power hungry little guys.

I am currently listening to an older pair of L 300 speakers.

I replaced the round push button terminals with banana sockets and replaced the capacitor as well.

They sound very nice (for a little speaker) powered by a 12 volt battery driven 3116 based chip amp.

I used the Caig rubber restorer from PE. Seems to help a little.

Any pics of x-o to share, or values for the caps replaced?

I have no photos.

I replaced the capacitors with the same value as found on the crossover. (I do not recall what the value was.) I do not think it wise to change values from what was original. The crossover could change values in different editions and I do not consider myself smarter than the people that designed the speaker.
