Yeah, I saw those, and I hadn't seen that model either. Thanks for the heads up, but I'm full of speakers! There's some nice ADS's currently listed.
The 710's are a nice sounding middle of the road Ads speaker. Better than the 810's IMHO, but can't compete with say the 980's or 1290's. My 1530's are in a whole different league. The upper echelon ADS models are more detailed and articulate. I haven't heard a pair of 1590's. Not even the ones I'm having restored. I never hooked them up. Brought them home and gutted them. I've had enough ADS speakers that I knew what I was getting myself into. You should hear Glenn's 910's. I would love to A/B them with my 1530's. They (the 910's) give so much depth and detail to the music it's downright sublime. The 1530's give you the same musical experience. I've found the 810's to be boomy at times, unlike the 710's which I liked better. The 1290's are very good also but I thought lacked in comparison to the 980's. The 980's were considered a bookshelf monitor that shared the same midrange as the 1590's. I never had Richard So recondition the 710's, 810's, 780's, 1290's or the 980's when I owned them. I think any ADS speaker is a good candidate for Richard's work, but when you get up to the upper models, it's well worth it. I hope I can say the same for the 1590's when they're done, but I'll be very surprised if I'm disappointed. I'll post my opinion after I get to spend some time with them.

The 990 isn't one of the good ones. My brother took 15 seconds before proclaiming "I can't listen to those." He has no problem with the other ADS speakers I have but these were a step down from the Time Windows I switched back to after he said that.

You keep writing this. You are disparaging a decent speaker without ever having heard it.
I had some 990's. While they were not right for me, they were a decent speaker. I found they worked well with the right amp.

Sweet! I had a pair of these back in the early 70s, albeit with the Braun label under which they sold prior to ADS taking the line. They were fantastic speaker- one which I wish I still owned. As Blue Shadow noted earlier, the 710s were nicer than the 810s which I auditioned. The 710s were better balanced overall. These are keepers,

This series, the L990 is more a grown up, column 690 than it is a lesser 10-,12-,1590.
Let me rephrase that. When my brother came over one day, I put on my pair of L990 speakers and in 15 seconds he said: "I can't listen to those." Does that make it more clear that I owned these speakers? When compared to the Braun L1030, they were just not able to compete. I disparage a bunch of other gear I have never heard but not the L990. I'm very happy they found a new home, along with the L810s and a couple small pair. I have kept the L710, L1590/2, PQ10s, 300i and 320i.

Interesting. Your pic shows a standard bookshelf speaker as being what one would expect. Those 1590s look absolutely svelte compared to the 910 but we don't see how deep they are. When I put the 1590s in my main rig, I was greeted with a nice reasonably-sized speaker compared to the wall of sound that 4 DQ-10s would be side-by-side or MG-IIIas would be as seen from the listening position. Really opened up the view of the area behind the speakers.

Great reference photo. The 1590's and 910's are 14 1/8th deep. The 910 in person feel more physically imposing.

It's easy to become enamored with the larger and more expensive ADS speakers, yet my own experiences with the brand has proven that size really only commands respect in regards to the listening environment. Every set I have owned have all shown themselves to be more than respectable speakers depending on the amp pairing and the room environment. that is not to say I don't like the larger ADS', as I really do, and will keep an eye open for any of the brands models.
Here are the L620's in a dedicated analog system, older NAD 3150, they are a 2 way and sound beautiful.
The L400's with an NAD D3120 run through a laptop in nearfield environment. These are mighty fine little boxes.
These are the L980 and L880 side by side, they are set up in studio, driven by a Cambridge Audio CXA80, and they sound marvelous, the speakers are now stacked.
Here are the much maligned M12 which are a different animal for sure but since I paired them with this Sony ES receiver and a DLK passive subwoofer, they sound phenomenal, I was considering selling them, but now I just can't.
As for your L710's. They are highly regarded, and rightfully so, the cabinet size and component pairings were considered a perfect matching of ideas, I'd buy some if I got the right deal.

I'll second the idea that, short of that wild crossover in the 910s and the biamp feature of other models, the differences in the L-Series three-ways is a matter of room size. I say three ways as I think that the sticky dome midrange is the driver that separates ADS from the rest of the pack. The two ways are nice, but not expensive to out perform.
I'd also like to be the lone voice in the wilderness on the popular contention of the 710's superiority over the 810: I've had both in the magical Porkloin music room for listening/drinking/barbeque fests and found the 810 to be better in the 15 X 25 room, even though every component was the same, except for woofer size and their accompanying enclosure. I might add that turning down the bass is preferable to turning it up if it's too much for a smaller room. I'll continue by trashing an audio thread with yet another automotive analogy: Would you rather drive: a V-6 with a heavy foot or a V-8 with a light foot?
I wouldn't kick either out of the audio sack.
The L-710's too cute to be a blood relative cousin, the L-780 /2.
