Hello Celt,
Great info on the Advent line, much appreciated, thanks. What I've gleaned so far is this,

And, having looked at the Advent sticky again, I notice it is stated that Advent was sold to Jensen in 1989.
I believe it was well before that wasn't it? It seems to me I remember that when the numbered series came out (4002, 5002, etc.) in the eighties, Advent had already been sold.
Also, the original Walnut Advents shouldn't really be referred to as "bullnose". That term was first applied to the New Advent walnut cabinet with the rounded trim on the front.

Just trying to compare quality versus the original Advent or even to the 5002 and 5012.
The way I read the info given to me by Celt, the Legacy were produced in the late 80 to early 90s by the Jensen speakers company, not necessarily a bad thing I suppose. Although I would much prefer the original or the earlier models (early 70s).
If I can manage a decent price, and the state of them, I may get them.

Even though they are under your radar, Don't count them out...They are great sounding speakers IMHO, and there is some info floating around on some crossover upgrade as well for those to make them even better. I can't wait to get my set back out of storage to do the upgrade.

I bought a pair of Baby Advents, 1st series, in 1984 when they debuted and clearly remember seeing Jensen's name (specifically, "International Jensen") on the model sticker located on the back of the speakers.
IMO Jensen did a good job of keeping the classic Advent philosophy alive, all the way up to their unfortunate acquisition by Recoton in 1994: warm/smooth sound and especially the use of the acoustic-suspension bass system, which by that time had pretty much been abandoned by most other companies. They also continued to build their speakers with quietly elegant furniture-like styling, while most other companies had switched to black & other somber colors and "hi-tech" austere lines (many customers where I sold audio gear bought Advents mostly because of their styling which didn't stick out like a sore thumb in the average living room).

I agree re Jensen, RadShak.
All the speakers they produced under the Advent name have been lauded as still having the basic qualities of the originals.
So Andre, if you can get those Legacies (or should the plural, in this case, be Legacys?) for a good price, I wouldn't hesitate.

Couple of things I look for when searching for old speakers, first most naturally, if I like the sound, second, exactly what you are talking about, the way they look. I like the old style with a nice wood veneer.
Still waiting for a response from this person.
A while ago, if you remember i was looking at a pair or original, but unfortunately, it did'nt pan out, maybe this time.

I re-foamed these about a month ago. Bought new about '93. The two set of leads on the woofer are for 6 and 8 ohm operation selected by a switch on the back.
They have moved to fourth or fifth place behind DCM TF-600, DCM Timewindows, Rectilinear III's and B&W 1200's all acquired in the last year or so. They ain't too far behind the leader.

Now I've all of the info that I need and pics to support them to make an educated decision.
