Got em last nite and hooked em up to a Pioneer sx838 50 watt rcvr. I must say they sound purdy darn good for their size and all. Not thunderous base but hey, can't complain, and for 20 bucks, a good deal.
Just be aware, the Mini Advents are a 4 ohm load. The Baby Advents, which are a bit bigger (wider and taller, but not much/any deeper), and are not ported, are rumored to be a 4 to 6 ohm load as well, though many feel 6 ohms is the normal for them.
I did a little shootout between some small speakers I had laying around a while back when deciding which set my dad needed. In order of the picture BA A60, Infinity something, AR 8a, and the minumus 77. The BA were the best but just by a little. The AR's ended up sounding quite nice and went to my dad, the infinities were very nice as well but the balance and depth of the AR was better, my daughter rocks the Infinities and they really do well in her room taking a continuous Hiphop pounding just fine. The 77 was outclassed by all here and by far the smallest. Good top end and nothing else.
well I don't know about their Z but I do know they can handle some power, are clean, clear, have excellent instrument detail and defination, good base when it's in the music and just all around sound very good for what they are. I had them going this AM for a few hrs playin CDs thru my sx838 pioneer and they sailed right along without a hitch, and I cranked em some to boot just to see if I could hear any resonances or stridency. I didn't. Hi's are clean and clear with good imaging and sound spread. No they can't match my JBL Olympus systems but the price was rite.
If you see any of the Baby Advent IIs pop up, I'd say grab them too- I picked up 3 pair for free, one pair for $20, with 25 or so feet of monster cable.
Not too big, but for what they are, great sound, and a nice clean bass from that small enclosure and a 6.5" woofer.
