Ah man, if I win the lottery on Friday

A guy live in ashburn VA (5 minutes from me) has two as well. He demo them for me and they are beasts, excellent sounding amp.

Wow.
A 140 pound amp that consumes 160 watts just by turning it on. There couldn't have been too many of them made.
I wonder if the op could fix one of those if it had issues.

I've got 3 Onkyos. None like that, though.

If I had 8G's to spend on amp it sure as hell would not be an onkyo. Nothing against onkyo as I love my 508.
I wonder how much the attention that amp would garner if it didn't have those meters?

You are comparing a dodge charger against a viper- just cause it says onkyo on both doesn't mean they are the "same". His price is 2-3k off the mark I believe, 5k-6k makes sense.

Nothing against that big onkyo but for that 5-6K I'd be looking to bring home a couple of obscenely heavy amps with autoformers and some big blue meters:yes:.

For me it's about rarity, autoformers and big meters are as common as coffee. To each his own.

I saw one of these set up in a music store in Japan along with some other high end Onkyo stuff. Very impressive. But for that price the matching pre would have to be in the deal for me.
It is a mice looking and performing amp for sure.
There was one on the Bay a few weeks ago that was down to the wire and it was pulled before the auction was complete. Something about it not being described correctly not sure. Had a lot of weird bids that were withdrawn. It was a 100 volt model I think. Wonder if it is the same guy?:scratch2:

Well if it sounds anything like my 508 (I'm thinking it should spec out far better) then it should sound quite nice.

If I win the Lottery a new amp likely is in there somewhere, but it's way down the list of things to spend money on. :)
