everytime i see one of those i think, gosh, that is such a pretty amp.

I really shouldnt be looking at that thing tho, im supposed to be saving up some coin to get a mcintosh:P

That really is some eye candy, but with some brute specs to back up the good looks.

If you're going to get technical 63 kg = 138.891 lbs so I rounded it to 140, 139 if you prefer. :)

Interesting to see. I'm wondering about those transformers. It appears that there are two toroidal power transformers, and two ??? transformers?? Are they output transformers a la Macintosh or Sansui BA-5000?

I will always have a spot in my heart for the m-504. I wish I never sold mine. I've never seen that thing before, but I think I'm love.

I love my 508 however,

If I had the money, I would buy that.

I wish I had enough time to sell off half my gear....and I would buy that.

There's a bit about them on the Vintage Knob site.

Wheres the XLR???

Circa 1984 consumer gear

I'm even less impressed than you. The "japanese market only" gear has never done much to float my boat.

You'll need 100 volt mains to power that anchor, good luck with that.

So you've heard an M-510 or a Yamaha GT-2000? Do tell us all about them. :) The transformer is included in the listing.

As much as I like my 508, 6G's for a 510 or any onkyo for that matter is a lot over the top imo.

It's not a M-510 or even an Integra M-510 it's a Grand Integra M-510! Of course it's over the top. A flagship offering has to be or it's not a very credible flagship is it? Ignoring inflation and at todays exchange rate it was $7k back in '84. Hopefully no one will bite and the price will come down so I only have to sell 1 kidney to get it.

Well you won't have to worry about me bidding against you. Those 6Gs will go a long ways buying me something made closer to home with blue meters:D

Believe it or not, i've actually owned a couple power amps in the past, and have a real world basis for my opinion.

I'm not an Onkyo hater by any means, they are a solid brand with a solid reputation rightfully earned. But, in all fairness, in contrast to all things hifi, the brand is synonymous with mediocrity, and that mediocrity is evident from the bottom to the top of their product lines.

At 6k i'll gladly live with a couple Krells or Brystons, and enjoy the change, in fact i do.

The Yamaha "sound" has never captivated me, although if necessity/economy dictated i might rehab one of their old pro amps.

If i had to live with a Japanese power amp, i'd prefer a properly rehabbed SPEC2 as much as anything else that came out of Japan. Accuphase P300 was pretty good, but a little weak driving Infinities and a few other demanding loads.

Just my .02 y'all understand................................
