Onkyo M 510 GRAND INTEGRA

Onkyo is one of the most respected brands in Japan but a complete 10th fiddle in Europe (bar the HT stuff and bar Germany as usual). How is it seen/distributed in the US?

I have an Onkyo Integra M508 and I love it. I think they have a cult following in the states but most people think of Onkyo as a mid-fi brand. Many audiophiles will only buy US made amps. Everyone who has listened to mine has come away impressed. One friend in California asked me what amp to get and I told him about mine. He got a M506 on E-Bay and he loves it.

I have what I believe is the next step down from the M-510, the M-5090. It was a $2K amp in 1982. 200wpc @ 8 ohms. I have also had M-506 and M-504. One thing I like about the Onk's is, except for the M-510, all the Onk's I've owned all looked exactly alike. As you go higher up the power line, the amps get a little bigger, a little heavier.

LUUSSSHHH is the way I would describe it. Fat and lush. Those opening chords just wrap around you man. Beautiful.

What are the 510's specs? Weight? It looks like it would crush a 508, and the 508 is no lightweight. Gawd, fat amps turn me on! I want them all!

The weight is about 72 kg and 2*300w in 8 ohm from 20 - 20000 hz

That fat Onkyo amp has to be one of the most gorgeous stereo creations I've ever seen a picture of. I can't imagine how good it looks in real life..or even how it must sound. I saw one of these in an old Onkyo brochure I have and was happy to know such a thing was made..even if I never saw one. Fabulous!!

One of my other Onkyo set is the M 588/5890 and P 388 F ballanced set 2+200W. its from 1997 so not vintage yet.

Here is my new Denon set, PRA 1000 and POA 1500, It´s a wery nice set from 1986 and just like new. I have just won a auktion so i am very happy. Here is some of my other old stuff, take a look at the link below

Yes i am missing the woodden sides but are waiting for a new pair in black piano,,,, The tuner is a Sansui T 666 from about 1970 or before.
I Nearly have all the important gear i have owned from i was a´ kid, just missing a few turntables

That 510 is the bomb!!!

Here's my M-588 and P-388. Impossible to find here in the US but I'm still on the lookout for a second set. The ones overseas are simply too pricey and then you have to consider shipping too! I got extremely lucky in finding the set I have. The US versions are M-588f and P-388f.
