They require a lot of maintenance for sure. And the raw materials needed for lithium batteries and solar panels along with the manufacturing process causes pollution also, not to mention disposal and recycling. Lithium mining and prossessing leaves some really nasty byproducts to deal with.
 
Meanwhile the technologies that use fossil fuels have never been more efficient, or cleaner, because they have over a century of R&D behind them, I expected hybrid vehicles to be more popular, simply because the battery technology isn't there yet.

That's why I don't want an electric vehicle right now. The battery tech just isn't there yet. Meanwhile the government keep pushing the auto makers to keep cranking out electric cars. They're just piling up without enough buyers.
I don't know about your area, but electric cars catching on fire is a pretty common accurance in my area. And they can't even out them out. They burn to the ground belching out toxic smoke.

I dunno. I had a hybrid that lasted 220k miles and 17 years trouble free. Would still be going if a door gasket had not failed and let water wash across the battery control board. The other point of failure were the ignition coils for the fossil fuel engine. Both are well known technologies with experience way longer that our experience with batteries.
 
I have said it before, if you are the least bit concerned or worried about AI, just call the Comcast Cust Svc without an account number. The only people who need to fear machines like that are the accountants at Comcast. When you finally get a human, it’s an idiot in Asia who makes you wish you were still talking to the AI that is like one of Harry Mudd’s robots. I tried to tell it that everything I said was a lie I may have crashed the system.
